With the popularity (and prevalence) of receipt-redemption coupon apps, you may be finding yourself taking more and more photographs or scans of your store receipts in exchange for cash back. To name a few:
One issue that I’ve been hearing about recently from my readers and class participants is that it’s time-consuming and somewhat frustrating to photograph long receipts, as the receipts need to be broken into a series of photographs. I agree! Let me share with you one of my tips for simplifying this process…
When you’re in the checkout lane, separate the items you’ll be redeeming via receipt apps. Place the order divider bar between them, and simply ask the cashier to split your transaction into two orders. Check out with the majority of your groceries being paid for in the first transaction. Next, the cashier will ring up your app deal items on a separate receipt — one that’s likely to be much shorter!
Which receipt would you rather scan with your smartphone?
(And yes, one is a Jewel receipt and one is a CVS receipt — but I’m using these for illustrative purposes!)

It might not be a good idea to break an order into smaller orders if you use Checkout 51 and if your total order is $60+. They have an option where you submit any receipt totaling $60 or more (after coupons) to be entered into a $500 weekly drawing. I don’t use it that often but occasionally one of my receipts does get that high.
