Kmart this week: Double Coupons and $1.99 Winter Clearance!
If you're planning a trip to Kmart to take advantage of their double coupon promotion this week, you may want to check out the winter clothing clearance going on too. Winter clearance clothes (man, woman, and child) have dropped to $1.99 each, already a fabulous price -- but if you printed a $10-off-$20 coupon for Kmart when they were available, you'll be able to do really well with this sale.
In my Super-Couponing 2 class, I talk about the yearly, seasonal clothing clearances and the times of the year in which they happen -- it's a great way to buy ahead of our needs for next season or next year, at fantastic savings.
Here's what I bought today for my sons at $1.99 each (pre-coupon):
5 pairs Disney blue jeans
2 pairs Basic Edition cargo pants
2 Route 66 long-sleeve shirts
1 Basic Edition long-sleeve flannel shirt
1 two-pair set of NASCAR pajamas (my favorite find... and theirs! Two pairs of 100% cotton pajamas for $1.99 BEFORE coupons? Oh yes.)
Total: $21.89 - minus $10-off-$20 coupon = $11.89! That works out to $1.08 per item (and in the case of the pajamas, .54 a pair.)
And... I also picked up 5 boxes of dog treats for the Cataldo canine, free with doubled coupons.
__________________________________________
Other notes: I shopped at the Crystal Lake, IL location, where it was kind of slim pickings for boys' clothes (not as much for the larger sizes as far as pants, many long sleeve shirts though) but there are LOTS of clearance clothes for toddler and young girls at this location. And, a lot of the clearance is on big shelves and racks in the MIDDLE of the store, not necessarily in the clothes' specific departments. Another note - one of my readers pointed out that at their store, they were told only 4 like coupons would be accepted. I wasn't aware of this being one of the terms of the promotion, nor was I told this at the register -- but as with ANY Kmart Doubles trip, I'd cut many more coupons than you plan to use, because you never know what will be in stock once you get to the store.

Your welcome...
I thought they had great stuff in electronics. I also got the Squekwil Chipmunks movie for only 10.99. I tis not a Disney movie and I never came across coupons for it. It was $1 more than Target before coupon but with the coupon it was only 10.99. Not bad.
There are coupons for the squeakquel
on Dole pineapples for $3 off (of course you need to buy the pineapple to get the coupon). You do not need to buy the pineapple at the same time as the movie...I bought the pineapple a few days before the movie came out and use the coupon at Dominicks when they had the movie on sale for $14.99 and you get 4-pack Fizz, Cheetos and Hershey candy for free.
Tinley Park
I hate Kmart, but thought I would try shopping there. I printed the Buy 1 get one coupon for the Mac & Cheese. They said they don't accept buy one get one. I was going to buy the Snuggles with the $3 off coupons that are on sale for $4. There was no one to ask, none of the shelf. I went to customer service and waited 20 minutes for them to find someone who could tell them they don't have any and they could handwrite me a raincheck, but then it is only good at their store. I only came home with oranges!
Lombard-can't use Man Q's and 10/20
Cashier and manager confirmed that I could either use my manufacturer coupons OR my 10 off 20. My total after man q's would have still been over $20, but they said no.
Guess I have to find another Kmart.
Lombard
That is strange - I was at the Lombard Kmart today and did both doubles and $10/$20 (I still had over $20 after manufacturer coupons though) - no problem. I even offered to split transactions and they said I didn't have to.
the Naperville one lets you use both manu and store 10/20
The Naperville one lets you use both manu and store 10/20 and some of the cashiers make a point of scanning your 10/20 before the manu Qs so you do not even have to spend 20. Today I spent $17 so $7 after all Qs and I got a $5 store cat to use on the next $5 because I bought 3 northern quilts toilet paper at 7.49 each less the $1 manu target coupon doubled to $2 each.
It depends on the cashier.
Winter Clothing Clearance
I checked out the men's section. There didn't seem to be a clearance section at all. I don't remember seeing any clothes that weren't K-Mart brand either. For cheaper clothes I like JCPenney when the clothes are marked down.
7up and Tide stain release
If you printed the $1/1 7up coupon the other day (sorry, don't know if it's still available), the 0.5 liter 6-packs are on sale for $2.50.....that's $.50 after double. Also, small tide stain release (16 count) are $4.49.... if you have any $2.00 coupons (I had some from the tide detergent boxes) it makes them $0.49 after double.
Quilted northern
Has anyone received a $5 cat on the quilted northern tp at Kmart? I wanted to use my q's and $10/$20.
got it yesterday, it is a store coupon and can only use ..
got it yesterday, it is a store coupon and can only use 1 store coupon per transaction so you cannot use it with the 10/20 nor 2 of the $5 off in the same transaction. Just an FYI.
There is a manu Q for quilted n on the target website, hopefully they will accept it, I will post today.
Bought Wii stuff with my 10/20 q
I did not find any clothes for my kids on clearence so I went a different route with my coupons.. I bought things I would have bought anyway that I could not get coupons for and rarely see on sale. I bought 2 wii remotes, a wii remote charger, a mr coffee iced tea maker, a blender that was on sale $10 cheaper than Target to begin with. A nice watch, again on sale, for my 10 year old son.
I have used alot of those coupons and have been very happy with the deals
I got. It seems like most of you are using them for the cheap clothes..I would have had I found any that worked for my family, or coupon related items.
I just thought I would let you know the other ways I got some great items for half price or huge discounts.
10/20 Q
Yeah...I could not find any clothes either. I have used my 10/20Q on Charcoal, Rollerblades for my son, and a new shower head. I didn't even think about looking in the electronics section...now I have to go back :o)
Bloomingdale Kmart
Took a trip to the Kmart store in Bloomingdale yesterday afternoon and did okay. Tried to find winter clearance items but found none for my kids. Also tried to use the Filtrete coupons for filters and bags but found they did not carry that brand. Was able to use the Stayfree coupons for 3 free, although one package was torn open (they were the last ones on the shelf). Bought a few other items to take advantage of the $20/10 coupon.
All in all, after double coupons and before the $10 coupon, my total was $20.51. After the $10 was taken off, it was brought down to $11.70. Not bad.
Same here
I had a hard time finding items on my list at that Kmart too. I don't know if it's normal to have low stock (or none, as it seemed they just didn't have a lot of things I had q's for) or if the store is just that way. We're going to end up using the $20/$10 on other things that we normally don't get coupons for, like our water filters that are pretty expensive.
When doubles roll around
the items that end up being free/cheap after coupons get hard to find. Kmart does a bad job of re-stocking.
last nite at 9:00PM at Willowbrook Kmart...
Does anyone else know if this is "true":
the cashier told me that today (4/7) would be the LAST day that the store would take "photocopies" of the $10/$20 coupon, but they would accept only coupons directly printed from their website. I told him that the coupon i was presenting him wasn't xeroxed or anything? But does he really mean that we can't use these pdf-copied coupons anymore--- afterall, it was in pdf form in the first place coming right from their website!? PLEASE ADVISE! :)))
woodstock
So, my husband needed a toothbrush today. PERFECT, I said! I can get it free at Kmart.
Well, on the way to Crystal Lake store I decided, I'll just go to Woodstock (it's closer), even though I can't use the $10 off $20 there, maybe they'll have some cheaper prices since they're closing.
WRONG!!!
Not only are they not taking/doubling coupons or going by the flyer, most of the prices were MORE expensive than what Jill listed for the CL store. I browsed for awhile to see if they had some super cheap bedding, clothes, etc... Still, nothing so cheap that I couldn't pass it up. In fact most things were very similar pricing to what you can get at WalMart or Target regularly.
What a disappointment.
Next time I am for sure going to the Crystal Lake store :)
Closeout
When a store's closing, the first thing that happens is that a liquidator comes in and RAISES all of the prices, then says everything is "10% off."
There's nothing great going on at Woodstock yet - and like you said, no doubles and no coupons as they're in liquidation.
no wonder...
Yeah almost everything had 20-40% off posted. The only thing I was tempted to get was swimming trunks for my hubby. But again, not such a steal that I couldn't walk away.
Anyone know when they're closing for good? Might be worth it to go back & get shoes or something
Crystal Lake a no go for the $10 off $20 printable
Wow I had quite the experience at the Crystal Lake Kmart yesterday. Machines were so slow that people were dropping merchandise left and right and leaving the store...then when it was finally my turn the cashier told me that they would not accept the $10 off $20 unless it had my address on it...ok so I still get double coupons right? The cashier tried to double them for me instead of allowing the machine to do it correctly and then after not being about to use the printed coupon she shorted me $2.00..so off to customer service I went where I found a $5 off coupon just sitting on the counter calling my name. When all was said and done. 30 minutes later as I fed my 3 month old while waiting I ended up getting a pretty good deal for all I got, but don't think I'll return there anytime soon. Here's what I got..for about $35 I would have paid about $80 even with sale prices without coupons!
Neutrogena baby sunblock full size
Lanhiosh milkbags (25 count)
2 packs of Huggies Diapers
1 bag of Iams cat food
1 pair of shorts, sweatpants and a shirt with sequins for my 4 year old
1 egg dying kit
I see...I'm guessing that was
I see...I'm guessing that was the problem...I thought they were talking about one sent to homes or something. There is so much to remember....still happy with my deals though, thanks to Jill once again for being such a great teacher to all of us!
I Called There
I called the Crystal Lake Kmart a few days ago to see if they'd take the $10 off $20 coupon. They said they would, as long as it had the Kmarts and their addresses on it. So I think maybe that's what your cashier meant. There were 2 pdf's (to my knowledge): 1 with just the coupon info, and a second one with the same info, plus the participating stores. Hope that helps.
Correct
The "old" $10-off-$20 that says it's good at "all stores" is NOT good anywhere. Kmart says that was a "misprint" and it was replaced by one with specific stores' addresses on it - Crystal Lake included.
I saw one of those at Montgomery store
today the woman ahead of my had the 'no good' coupons and she used a whole pile of them......I wondered why hers looked different than mine....
Old Coupon
The original one without the stores on it has the same barcode as the new one with all the stores on it. I have been using the old one with no problems just to save on printer ink....plus the old one can be cut out to be a lot smaller to fit in my purse.
K-Mart Coupon Policy
I got this from the Bloomingdale store on Sunday.
http://tinyurl.com/KMartCouponPolicy
All coupons?
Does this info apply to all coupons, including the $10/ $20? Can I use five in one day?
Not Following Coupon Policy
I think what the policy means is that you're not supposed to be able to combine doubling with the $10 off $20 (K-mart store coupon) and maybe a Catalina (if they consider that a store coupon). The BOGO is also supposed to be excluded from the coupon doubling according to the policy. Some cashiers will put this through and only disallow a coupon if the register beeps.
The good news is that not all the stores are strictly following this as evidenced by the people here who combined offers. Bloomingdale and Naperville are currently allowing $10 off $20 if the post-coupon total is greater than $20. What would be nice is if you could slip the $5 off Catalina in after doubling down to $20, then use the $20 off $10 and pay $5 to $7 OOP.
not exactly
I went yesterday to the Crystal Lake Kmart and when you have their rewards card, it automatically did the coupon doubling. I used the $10/20 coupon FIRST and then handed over my diaper coupons.. they had no problem whatsoever doing it this way. I think they wanted to make sure the coupons didn't dip into taxes.. although I ended up paying about $3 for two packs of diapers, a go-pack of wipes and some juice boxes. Not bad! I would have done even better if I had had ANY usable huggies wipes coupons. oh well :o)
What happens if your coupon
What happens if your coupon is for $3 before doubling? Does it get doubled to $5 (2+2+1)or not at all?
$3 Coupon
It does not double at all. It just is $3.
Thanks!
Thanks!
One Coupon per Person per Day
I went to the Kmart in Round Lake, IL, and after calling the manager over, I was only allowed to use one $10/$20 coupon total! She told me that her instructions from Kmart's corporate office was to only allow one coupon per person per day! They would only hold the clothes until closing, so I returned with my husband and two very sleepy children at 8 pm. We managed to sneak through two separate checkout lines, utilizing four more coupons.
I bought ten long sleeved shirts for my son, another ten for my daughter, and enough hats, gloves, and scarves to last a couple winters, all for $1/piece! I also bought some cute summer clothes ONLY 30% off pre-coupon, but they were too cute to pass up.
I'm happy, but very annoyed at the lengths I had to take to use more than one coupon, when it doesn't state anywhere that I can only use one coupon per person per day.
rlb ?
on sunday i used 2 .. one transaction after another .. no questions at rlb
kMart Winter Clothes
I did the clothes last week when they were $2.99 each.
I knew from the class that they would be cheaper, but wasn't sure how picked over they would be by then and needed to stock up! I went twice and used the 10 off 20 each time so each piece was only 1.50. Fourteen Disney and Fisher Price items for 24 dollars(after tax)! Still a great price as far as I'm concerned!
What coupon did you use for the dog treats?
Absolutely
Oh, I intended on getting up there last week to check out the clothes clearance and just didn't make it. I think you did very well (and yes, things were really picked over, at least for boys. The jeans and pajamas I found were buried in with clothes from other departments.) Dog treat coupons were printables - I have them linked under this week's Deals.
Thanks Jill!!

pretty awesome! Are the 5 coupons per transaction or per day?
pretty awesome deals! I was wondering: are the 5 coupons per transaction or per day? I thought it was per day.
Thank you
I guess it depends on the cashier
but I was able to all 3 transactions almost back to back with the same cashier.
per day
That's what I thought too. At least that's what Jill says in the DEALS :)
K-Mart won't take $10 off $20 with manu coupons
The K-Mart in Montgomery won't take the $10 off $20 coupoon with ANY manufacturer coupons (double or not).
Guess I was just lucky today
Maybe I should run out and get some Lotto tickets
As long as..
... you have $20 in purchases AFTER all coupons, they'll take it. I made sure I had over $20 worth of clothes, regardless of my doubled coupons.
Nope!
The manager told us that NO coupons were accepted if the 10/20 was being used.
Crystal Lake
My cashier at Crystal Lake said he had to scan my manufacturer coupons first before scanning the $10/$20, just to make sure the balance stayed over $20 after coupons (it did, as I had $21 worth of clothes) - no issues. I guess some of the stores are (surprise) making up their own rules.
