Customer Service-Jewel
Your business is always appreciated! It is you, the customer, who pays my salary. You should always be treated with kindness and respect. Jewel isn't the cheapest store to shop at(unless you are coupon savvy)but we pride ourselves on customer service. Customer service isn't a department,it's an attitude. Some employees have the wrong attitude, the rest of us are more than willing to make sure you are satisfied.
Every shift (yes, been there at many different times of the day) has had a wonderful cusotmer service manager. Even the store manager or assistant manager helped me one night. Wonderful service very impressive store. I usually do self checkout so I don't have to bother cashiers with wondering if something is printing or not.
They go above and beyond and are pleasant the whole time.
I lived in Elk Grove for years and both the Jewel and the Dominick's (gasp! I said something nice about a Dominick's!) have unbelievable employees! I miss both those stores now that I am in West Dundee. (oh and I miss the convenience factor! They are literally across the street from each other!)
Batavia Jewel made a big mistake when they cut back on the hours of their employees. Many employees have taken on extra duties in the store with reduced hours (= less pay). Many have to do this or they could be transferred or fired. I feel so bad for them. I have even seen some of them transferred to other Jewels in the area. This store has the volume to go back to the hours they use to have so they can efficiently stock the stores. They are making a good profit at this store and corporate should realize that this store needs to bring back its crew to stock, order and cashier overnight. Get smart Batavia and give your employees more hours so the job can get done like it use to. Profits are up at jewel, now keep your shelves filled or people will have to shop elsewhere.
I really can't believe some of the Woodstock's employees/managers/cs jobs are so secure that they can be allowed to treat customer as poorly as they do.
I don't know why these employees are always on key sale days or the only ones checking/cs first thing in the morning, if they are so bothered by people couponing. If it'sa really making your job a living h@@@ by dealing with us, try an off shift.
I actually had a younger male cs look at me in disgust and say "did you really buy ALL these seperately????
(5 cat litters) like he didn't know about the youbuck! Am I to assume he was being rude or just an idiot? He really shouldn't be in that position if he's not aware of how people are working the deals (you decide which he was). Then you have to hear that they are ordering but not receiving anything
when every other Jewel in this area had Suave and the other hot items, even enough that people were still buying it at 10pm most nights! Something Doesn't add up here.
But great job Gina, Cheryl,Candy,Karen and the others that are always helpful and smiling!
They have ALWAYS been nice to me.ALWAYS helpful. They ALWAYS have gone out of there way to assist. And I make sure I give each of them a big THANK YOU for all that they do.It is always a pleasure shopping there.I very rarely go to the Woodstock Jewel anymore because I was getting attitude every time I shopped there.I will go out of my way and give my business to another town before I will step into our Jewel.Pretty sad.It is not everyone there.Just a few.But not worth the hassle.
there's a lady that works in customer service that if she see me she runs the other way . not nice with me at all, attitude ,additude, she tells all the time catalina ? like she doesn't know what i'm talking about.
I shop at the Crown Point and Chesterton Jewel all the time. Eden used to be at Crown Point and has now been transferred to Chesterton (How lucky am I!?) She's awesome...always helpful and always has a smile! She's also a super couponer! I only wish Jewel had asked Eden to train the new girl at the Crown Point store to be as friendly. I don't think she (new girl) is very fond of us couponers.
Parri, Gege, and Joan(I think, can't remember her name, CS manager or something) from the Crown Point store are also great and always friendly!
Have to put my two cents in for the Batavia Jewel. The cashiers and cs staff are wonderful, patient and helpful. Since I've been super-couponing (thanks, Jill!) for the last year, I've gotten to know the staff at this Jewel. They are always pleasant and helpful. They are open to learning the ins and outs of our couponing ways. They didn't know the policy about taking Doms coupons for Doms brand items but looked into it and were happy to be informed. After losing out on a Cat because some of my coupons were entered as grocery, I have had to kindly ask that they input the number on the Q so that my deal will work. They didn't know that entering the Qs as grocery would do that but were willing to enter the numbers in and learn from it. Special kudos to cashiers Linda and Audrey and daytime cs staff. Last week, while doing a deal, I realized I had left my wallet in my gym bag at home, head cashier Linda came over to try to suspend my order, but b/c of all the coupons I had used they couldn't do it. Without hesitation, Linda reached into her pocket and paid for my groceries!! That is the kind of people that work at this Jewel. Of course I raced home, got my wallet and some muffins I had made the night before from the BC mix I had gotten on my last Jewel deal, and went back to the store! No need to go down the street to Doms, when I've got great deals and great customer service at Jewel!
Most are very nice, but there is one CS who is not. Don't know her name, just recognize her and always dread when I see she is the one in charge.
More than once I have also gotten the 'the cat only works off preferred prices'. One time I returned my items when I did not get the cat (the machine jammed, but the CS claimed there was no cat that was going to print - even tho the cashier told her it started to print), took the items went back thru a different lane, got the cat. I then went back and showed her that I did get the cat.
Also someone in charge there needs to figure out how to keep the shelves stocked. They claim they stock every morning and someone comes in and clears them, but during this sale I have been there everyday and I have never seen one of certain items on the shelves, so either they are really not re-stocking or someone IS coming in every morning and clearing shelves. Yesterday and today (I was there twice) there was not one Lean Cuisine for $1.67 on the shelf. No pizza sauce, no pepsi max, only a couple milks over the week, no suave until yesterday and only a couple, no degree....
I've only had one negative experience and have since realized that person is just usually grumpy with all customers, not just couponers. There are so many other friendly people there that make up for it! It's not just cashiers either, the guy who stocks the freezer section was a big help the other day. I've told the manager how wonderful everyone is and I plan on contacting corporate as well. I hope it makes a difference!
Completely agree - I have had nothing but good experiences there! I live between the Schaumburg/Barrington Jewel and the Roselle/Wise Jewel so I frequent both and have always had great experiences!
I like the one at Roselle/Wise too, but today I had a bad experience there. Maybe it was just an off day for her, everyone has them! Otherwise I've only been there a few times but have had great experiences.
Since we are on the subject, I love the staff at West Dundee! They are so helpful, and aside from one small incident recently I have NEVER had an issue with coupons there. They do seem exhausted this week, and I've had both the cashiers and CS say while they are happy people are getting deals, the ones who overdo it or are rude when it doesn't work out are wearing them out. One of the sweet CS ladies said yesterday "They didn't ask US before they put all these deals on at the same time!" She went onto say that she simply wished they would coordinate staffing levels with the level of concurrent deals. Which makes total sense! Maybe I'll pick up a nice box of chocolates for them and drop them off this week!
I've encounted many problems at the West Dundee Jewel, and I was even accused of fraud once because I had many internet coupons (all valid, I promise)....I drive out of my way to Huntley for their customer service instead. I'm never vocal or rude, and I just move on to another store if one won't take my coupons, but the majority of hassles for me has been Dominicks or West Dundee Jewel. Interesting.
I rarely use internet coupons (a collective gasp just went up I know!). I always hunt down a particular cashier or two (Ryan, young man VERY early twenties in particular). Sue is always a delight on the CS end. They have had a little bit of turnover lately, so maybe the bad eggs were weeded out (for instance the cashier who told me a year ago that if I wanted to use my coupons for "free" items they HAD to be first on the belt. I of course realize now that was her preference as opposed to policy!) But other than that they really are pretty great. Maybe give them another shot?
I'll probably give them another shot...The young guys are usually alright, no matter what store you're in...but it seems my luck always points me in the directions of the prunes...lol
Today while I was waiting in line, I kept hearing cashiers calling for 'over ride' - for lots of coupons. Perhaps they need to up the number of coupons that cause this. The poor woman with the key was running back and forth non-stop. She finally told my cashier 'I should just give you a key!'. She told the cashier it was going to be crazy today and tomorrow and then all the deals are over....(well not quite, there's still 'chill', but I didn't have the heart to tell her that.
Thank you for posting this. It is always a pleasure to hear from cashiers on the blog -- especially ones who understand what we do. We're not trying to "cheat" or beat the system -- there are plenty of great ways to save big legitimately. Thanks for understanding that :)
would promote this attitude with all of the employees.
However I believe that the reverse should also true. The people who work at Jewel (and everywhere else) deserve to be treated with kindness and respect by their customers. The Golden Rule applies in my book no matter where I am and no matter who I am dealing with. I am a firm believer that you get back whatever you give out.
Thanks for your kind words! You hit the nail on the head. I truly appreciate people who are kind and respectful when I'm waiting on them. :)
Antioch/Wauconda/Cary/Fox Lake(I drive a lot for work) and I encountered nice cashiers ALL places - especially Cary & Antioch. The cashiers were so sweet & even complimented me on my coupon savvy! (I owe it all to Jill & these boards, though!). I once had a bad experience at Wauconda with a CS person, but then I asked to speak to the manager who was very friendly & helpful. That was months ago, though.
Oh wait - I was also at Lake Zurich Jewel this week - no problems there either!
I *heart* Jewel!!
