Conagra (problem) + Kraft stack

Can't figure why I didn't get two $10 Cats. I did get one $10 for the Kraft deal then did the ConAgra in the same transaction and no $10 Cat for that. Is there an issue with doing these two Cat deals together in one transaction?

Have checked the totals on scanner and receipt as well as UPC list and it's good. I thought it might be cashier entering coupons as grocery but there's not enough to mess with that.

Kraft 3 @ $4.29 / $2.49 Preferred
Kraft 6 @ $3.39 / $2.49 Preferred

Conagra
6 Orville @ $3.59 / $1.69 Preferred
3 Manwich @ $1.30 / $1.00 Preferred
1 Gulden's Mustard $2.39 / $1.49

$27.83 no Cat all items on UPC list

$60.70 on regular pricing

Plus $23.31 in non-deal items based on regular pricing.

$84.01 TOTAL before preferred discounts and coupon kick in.
Cashier entered coupons as $6.55 Grocery. Still would be well over the $55 purchase requirement for the two deals.

Same Issue

I had the same issue with ConAgra and Kraft deals today. However, my cashier entered my previous Cats as coupons not grocery. The extremely helpful assistant manager at the Huntley Jewel said they have been seeing problems with people getting both the ConAgra and Kraft deals in one transaction. She recommended contacting Catalina.

I'm going to double check all SKU numbers on my receipt to be sure that it wasn't my mistake and then I'll contact Catalina.

** Update **
Just double checked all my SKU numbers. This was my mistake. I screwed up on my math. Learning experience for me.

Coupon as "grocery"

My guess would be that since the $6+ dollars was entered as "grocery" it would "randomly" and "generically" deduct that from items purchased. Presumably it would take off the lowest priced items (in this case your manwich and mustard) ConAgra items which would have brought you down under the $25 mark for the ConAgra cat. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that would be what happened.

Thanks

The reason I don't think it's the grocery thing is in the past when doing Cat deals I always have non-deal stuff and coupons entered as grocery but not more value than non-deal stuff so there's a price buffer and the Cats print. Your explanation for it targeting cheap stuff sounds good though. One of those mysteries.

Grocery

Grocery is the culprit - even if you have more "stuff" to cover the dollar value of the Cat, it can still mess up the end total. If a Cat doesn't scan, I usually offer to either READ the number back to them (so they can key it in manually as a manufacturer coupon) or just ask for it back for next time.

In the future

I'll just mention to the cashier if they can't enter it as coupon and are going to do grocery to just skip it. I must have been lucky to get away with this on other Cat deals.

This was one of those self serve checkouts where I couldn't believe how hard they make it to accept coupons, even with the cashier doing it, it wasn't just scanning them they had to be keyed. At that point 5 $1 coupons get entered as one $5 grocery.
