Quad City Times feature

There's a story in today's Quad City Times about the past weekend's Super-Couponing classes...

They came. They listened. They learned. Now, many Quad-Citians hope they can begin to really save money at the grocery stores thanks to Jill Cataldo, the nationally syndicated “Coupon Queen” columnist who spoke Saturday at the Moline Public Library about becoming better at using the coupon system when shopping.

Maven

Jill, did you correct them that you are the MAVEN not Queen? ;)
Many Queens but only one Maven!

A question for you. Who did you learn certain black belt techniques from, such as Jewel Cats are based off sale price not preferred?

Maven vs. Queen

The Chicago-Sun Times is actually responsible for my Maven title, which they "bequeathed" to me over a year ago. But my syndicated newspaper column is called "The Coupon Queen" (my syndicator chose the title) and so that's how the people taking my class, in a market in which my column runs weekly, would know me. :)

As for the black belt stuff -- trial and error, though now it's documented numerous places, of course. I remember an early Catalina deal where I didn't quite get to the $20 mark and got the Catalinas anyway (because they were working off sale/regular) and when I went back and looked at it, I thought - no way did I spend what I had to, and I still got these? After that... a little experimentation, more trial and error, and then it was time to rock and roll. :)

:)

This rocking and rolling - did it happen to go on all night? And was it accompanied by parties every day?
