1/30 Deals of the Week: Jewel-Osco Double Coupon Matchups!
I am still writing Deals of the Week (and a warning - it will be well into the evening before I'm finished as we had a family event today) but I do have a good list of Jewel DOUBLE COUPON deals started! Here they are... and please feel free to add anything else that you find too :)
The SUPER news of the week is that Jewel-Osco is doubling coupons! Sunday's flyer has five store "doubler" coupons, which will allow you to double five manufacturer coupons up to $1 in value. A .50 coupon will double to $1 - a $1 coupon will double to $2. You are allowed to use five doubler coupons per customer per day. While this flyer appears to have been distributed to most Tribune delivery areas, if you did not get it, check your store for the flyer or ask at the customer service desk. Readers are reporting that their stores have single sheets of these coupons available at the counter.

I had a $1/4 yoplait yogurts from the Que Rica Vida magazine; they're on sale for .60 cents each with q doubled = .40 cents or .10 cents each
Coupon Network just sent over a list of some printable coupons that are new today. Some of these will work well with the current doubles deal at Jewel, especially the new General Mills cereal coupons:
$1.00 off when you buy any TWO BOXES select General Mills cereals
80¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Multi Grain Cheerios® Peanut Butter cereal
75¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Frosted Toast Crunch™ cereal
50¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal
75¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Dulce de Leche Cheerios® cereal
These were on the list too - I'm not sure what the regular prices of these are, but if you need them, they may be good:
75¢ off when you buy ONE package of Yoplait® Light yogurt with Granola
When it rains it pours..! Coupons.com sent this list over. I LIKE the $1 coupon for MultiGrain Peanut Butter Cheerios!
$1.00 off Multi Grain Cheerios Peanut Butter
$0.75 off Dulce de Leche Cheerios cereal
$1.00 off 2 General Mills Divisional cereals
For posting these new ones, PB Cheerios coupons.com is only 75c for me but the BC one is $1. :-) PB Cheerios sounds good I hope it is!
I'm on my laptop, which I didn't print from today -- I just clicked the top Coupons.com link and the screen still says $1 for PB Cheerios. If it printed as .75, they might have hit limit on the $1 ones and replaced it with a .75...
Check your Jewel store mine was on sale for $2 so was able to buy 3. Also check on MUM that Welchs all natural spreads are on sale $2 and double your 75ents coupon makes it 50 cents !Bought the concord grape this morning was super going back for a few more (O:
Their is a list of over 175 items you can take a look at .
Has anyone run into this?
Head over to Jewel's Facebook page and let corporate know - they will straighten it out. ALL stores are participating, though not all stores got the doubler coupons in their ads. If you have the coupons though, whether from another store's ad or from Facebook, they are supposed to accept them. There were a few reports of this on their wall yesterday and Jewel seemed to be straightening it out pretty quickly with the stores once reports came in.
Shout wipes in the travel section are $1.19. Use the .55 any shout in the 1/15 SS and get them for $.09!
The new February All You has a $1 Activia coupon for more free yogurt.
And, today in Huntley I spotted Pebbles Boulders cereal on clearance for $1.55 per box. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 from the 1/15 SS. It doubles to two, and you pay $1.10 for two, or .55 per box!
I purchased 4 of the Stayfree pads at $2.50 each and used (2) BOG1 coupons and (2) 1/1 coupons along with the doubler coupons. I paid 1.00 for 4 packages -- .25 each!!
I went to Jewel for 6 items with 5 mfg coupons, and 5 doublers. One of the 5 coupons was for 2 items. My total should have been around $5-6 after $7.90 in coupons but it was less than $2. I thought I had really miscalculated but it wasn't me. I have no idea what the cashier did because I cannot make heads or tails of the receipt. There's a $4 coupon, 2 $2 coupons and even a $.50 coupon that I didn't even have. I feel bad but I didn't do anything wrong I don't think so I guess I shouldn't.
The coupon for Hot Pocket Snackers is only good on the 25oz package.
The Hot Pocket Snackers (like Pizza Rolls, but they have potato skin varieties too and they're supposed to be baked, not fried) are $2.69. The new $1 coupon from the 1/29 Parade magazine will make them .69 after the doubled coupon.
Edited - coupon's for the wrong size. This one won't work.
The coupon is only good on the 25oz package
Oops - I'll edit. I was on a "look and see what else might be good with doubles" mission :) Tonight I did a mix of Polaner fruit and O.B. I have two more Jewel ads with doublers to use up tomorrow and Wednesday...
Activia is now 2 for $4. (this was in Wauconda) so I was able to get 4 for free :-) also used a $1. off colgate from the All You and it is on sale for $2.99 and normally I wouldn't buy unless free, but I couldn't resist the $15. in coupons included in the total advanced with whitening type. And it looks like there are some pretty good ones in there. I noticed the Lady Speed stick was $1.99 and there is a $1. off men's or ladies, $1. off irish spring (didn't notice price), 50c off softsoap pump. Some other goodies but this is what I noticed. I have some $1. off Reach floss, I didn't know if I could use on the floss that was $1.49. I may try that one tomorrow.
Ran in real fast for the Activia... yum.
The Irish Spring is on sale for $1.99 too, and I originally had that listed with the double coupon deals, but if you read the terms on the doublers, they will not allow you to use the doubler if the doubled value exceeds the purchase price. (I know, I know.) But that penny of overage won't be allowed, and you can't double to make the deodorants free, unfortunately.
That answers a question I was going to post about the Reach floss... still having a few $1. Qs. and noticed it was on sale for $1.something. Thanks! There is some floss that is $2.79, so 79c. I also saw in All You there is a $1. off Chalula? Hot Sauce, my boys love this particular brand and I think it was $3.79. Good if you like/need it :-)
)O:
Kikkoman worked okay for me this morning (10:15am)it's on the second page if I remember correctly..
is at Jewel in Crystal Lake for $2.09 so with the $1 coupons and doubling, I bought two for $.18 and got the $1.50 cat. Went back through and used the cat for 3 bags of Grande tortilla chips at .50 net with coupons & doubling. So, got 2 marinades and 3 bags of chips for 18 cents....unbelievable. Thanks Jill and to everybody else who shares their great deals. This is soooo fun! P.S. just signed on to my hubby's computer and printer and the Kikkoman coupons are still available.
I bought those Kikkomans, too. But I can't find Grande chips anymore! Are not all stores carrying it anymore? I checked at 2 stores and nothing.
:^{ Did you mean printing them Joan?
I took it as not working at the store level. LOL
Went over to MUM and got it to print ok later
Is it wise to purchase higher priced items with this doubling at Jewel? For example, can I use the $2 dove clinical deodorant from this weeks RP? I can never find decent deals on this stuff but with $4 off it could be a good deal?
Walgreens has them for $6.50ea or 3 for $18 with $6RR? Not sure about the $6 off hand but it's something.
The SUPER news of the week is that Jewel-Osco is doubling coupons! Sunday's flyer has five store "doubler" coupons, which will allow you to double five manufacturer coupons up to $1 in value.
A $2 coupon will not double to $4. They are only doubling coupons up to $1 in value.
In addition to the Suave kids shampoon, the Suave Professionals and the Suave Men is also on sale 2/$3 and I found a coupon for $1/2 Men and $1/2 Professionals along with the $1/2 Kids. I'm sorry I can't tell you which insert they came from, but I am assuming the 3 of them were together because they were together in my folder and they are the same size like they were all next to one another on the page. :) So, stock up for the whole family at just 50 cents a bottle after manu & double Qs!
The O.B. and Stayfree products are still on "sale" at Jewel for $2.50 each, and I used the $1.00 printable coupons at https://www.healthyessentials.com/ which doubled to $2 and thus got these for $0.50 each.
The 1/8 SS1 has $1 coupons for those too :) Nice find! I'll add this to the list too.
Jill, does this scenario work? Can you use all of these coupons at once? Buy 10 Lean Cuisines and 1 Skinny Cow ice cream. Use (2) "Save $1.00 when you purchase any FIVE (5) LEAN CUISINE varieties" insert coupons and (1) "Buy any SIX (6) LEAN CUISINE varieties get ONE (1) SKINNY COW Frozen Snacks Item FREE (up to $4.24)IP coupon.
10 Lean Cuisine x $2 = $20.00
- $4 (2) $1 coupons doubled
= $16.00
Get back $3 OYNO for buying 8 Lean Cuisine
AND
Free Skinny Cow Ice Cream
I ask you this question, because I had trouble using all of these coupons together tonight.
Same here in Des Plaines, no go on the coupon from either of my papers, went to Dollar Tree and it wasn't in there, so I went to Jewel on Elmhurst Road and asked for one and CS said same as yours did.
I'm terribly disappointed at Jewel corporate for their very poor judgement on distribution and will be letting them know in a phone call to corporate tomorrow.
Dominicks looks better and better and I have to say I've been spending far more money there in the past 4 months, guess that won't change any time soon.
Mashupmom has a list of everwhere you can (and won't) find the double coupons - http://www.mashupmom.com/2012/01/28/jewel-ads-that-do-or-do-not-contain-...
The flyer was not in any of my papers (purchased or delivered) so I ran over to my Jewel in Buffalo Grove tonight and asked at the customer service desk about obtaining my copy of the flyer. I was told that this was only distributed to certain areas while others (including the Arlington Heights circulation area) were excluded. She also told me that they would NOT be getting any in at the store but would honor them if they were brought in. SO NOT FAIR! :-(
Also no doubler coupons in Yorkville Jewel but I did get one in the sale papers that came in the mail Saturday!!! I know, it doesn't make sense. So I did the kikamon deal, on sale for $2.09 each, $1 printable each with doubler, bought 2 got $1.50 cat. Also got a catalina alert for V8 buy 3 get $2 cat, between 1/23/12 and 2/19/12. Could be good with $1 printable from a couple weeks ago or 75 cents off 1 6pk in 1/1/12 SS and doubler.
I thought you had a Buddig sale listed on here this afternoon, and now can not find it. Does this mean that this is not the current deal? Thanks!!!!
I did have the Buddig coupon up, but it states "Do Not Double" on the top. I've been doing matchups with a database (which is how I always do things) but I posted this list before I went back to look at each coupon. Normally the words "Do Not Double" don't matter too much to use Jewel-ites... but this week, it will. So I pulled it.
I don't think it matters even now, because it is not really doubling by itself at the register. You are actually using a STORE COUPON that just happened to be the same value as the mfr Q. And it is OK to use 1 mfr and 1 store Q, so I am OK with using it in this instance ( I bought 1 POM juice).
Oh, and look for clearanced Starbucks coffee. Bags of regular were $3.75, and flavored $4. I bought 3 bags and after doubling $1 from 1/15 SS paid only $1.75 each!!!
I'm confused ... I thought I just read elsewhere (perhaps even a comment somewhere on here) that the store is the one eating the double value - so the Do Not Double doesn't matter.
I guess I should put my 2 Buddig Q's back in their envelopes then?
Even at stores that double all the time, the store -always- eats the doubling. Jewel's doing the same with this promo.
If the manufacturer doesn't want it doubled... again, ethically, I can't use it.
I guess realistically, though, why should the manufacturer get to call the shots on the item if it's the store that is taking the hit on it? Shouldn't it really be up to the individual store to decide if they are going to accept it or not? It's their profit it's eating into, afterall.
Just seems silly when the manu isn't out a penny less if the store chooses to double a coupon out of their own pocket.
Again, in ANY doubling situation, the store eats it - whether it's a store like Kroger that doubles every day (in most parts of the country anyway) - they still eat it. The manufacturer may not want to double it for several reasons -- one is simply that they don't want people to "get it free" because it may give the perception that the product is "cheap."
I agree that doesn't always make much sense to US, but again -- it's just how it is. You guys know I always try to do things ethically and "by the book," so to speak. Case in point -- the Hilander/Logli/Schnucks stores are all TRIPLING coupons this week. A reader sent me a deal on No Yolks egg noodles in which the coupon says "Do Not Double." But it does not say "Do Not TRIPLE." (And indeed, some coupons DO say "Do Not Double or Triple."
So... can I blog a deal involving a coupon that is tripled, and does not specifically SAY "Do Not TRIPLE?" The reader said the store told her they ARE tripling coupons that say "Do Not Double" as long as they don't say "Do Not Double or Triple."
I understand ...... and I certainly don't mean to "argue"
It is what is says.
Another thought with it giving the perception the product is "cheap" ... obviously us couponers never think of something is of poor quality because of the price -- but in my mind, a manufacturer that wants to dictate what a store can or can't do, leaves a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
Because in reality - denying a store to double a coupon - is the equivalent of telling say, Target, that they can't issue their own store coupon for any amount off a product. I say, if Target or Jewel or whoever, wants to cut off more of their profit to move a product, so be it!
All that said .... I'm still surprised I have yet to run into you with as many local stores as we both frequent. :)
I used a couple of coupons tonight that said, "do not double" and the store had no problem with it. I'm not sure what the official Jewel policy is on that for this promotion..........
The tag on the Activia showed the sale price ($2.50 each) was only through 1/29. Unless they put a new tag up overnight, Activia might not be such a great deal on Monday.
You're right - I think that one does end tonight. Thanks.
is part of the "Buy 10 Save $5 Instantly" promotion. In the coffee/tea aisle was a cardboard display with Gevalia coffee and tear pads with $1.00 coupons. Combine that with the doubler and you can get the Gevalia for $4.99 (assuming you buy the other nine items, of course). Not too bad if you like Gevalia.
Just got back from McHenry Jewel. I got three boxes of Mandarin Orange Spice Celestial Seasonings tea and two bags of Grande chips. Final out of pocket cost was $2.63 including tax! Yeah!
