Carpentersville Dominick's store closing (EDIT: Store has now closed for good - 11/8/11)
I am so upset, I just got back from Dominicks in Carpentersville(off Randall and Huntley ) and found out they are closing November 11 or 12th. They have already cleared a lot off there shelves. Now I will have to travel to Randall and 62 for the closest store. It looks like Jewel will be getting most of my business now.
Just went there this evening to get gas (prices every where else were up 25-30 cents since this AM!) and the gas station was dark. Signs on the pumps and the store said hey closed for good at 5pm this evening.
I'll miss the gas station.
We stopped in there on Thursday last week - it was one day after everything went 50% off and the store was nearly picked bare to the walls. We did get some $20 bags of Iams dog food for $10, real maple syrup at 50%, etc - but there wasn't a whole lot worth writing about even last week.
I did get some reusable bags. (Don't laugh.) I have always thought Dominick's had the nicest bags of all the stores around. They have nylon webbing handles, stand open by themselves, are coated with vinyl/plastic and are just very strong. I got some of their bags free during a sale in 2009 and they have outlasted pretty much every other reusable bag I've gotten elsewhere. So I got those for half price too.
I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. The place is DEAD when every other store in the area is packed.
considering all the negative comments made over the past three years on the Carpentersville store Ive read on this site. But if it worked for you, you have my condolences. I actually go out of my way to go to the Crystal Lake store because Ive had plenty of success there.
Is everything 50% off yet (what they usually do when a store is closing) or a different percentage?
Just this month the Pallos store closed !Not looking good for Dominicks )O: My daughter stopped in at 50% off but store didn't have much .The companies were taking their own products back not leaving everything to sell to the public .
when the 50% will happen? I'm looking to stock up on diapers (what else with 3 in the darn things)among other stuff and i'd show up at 6am the day they go to 50%. i missed out on the south suburbs doms closing a few weeks ago and any insight would be appreciated.
I did not notice any additional savings as of yet. There was clearance on some meat. But that may be normal. I did not go through the entire store. I just picked up some of the just 4 u savings and left.
