CBS News tonight!

CBS 2 in Chicago followed a local mom's story of going from spending $300 a week on her groceries... to taking my class... to spending less on her first trip to the grocery store after she learned to Super-Coupon! This was a fun segment to work on, as many people ask if I ever take a person from the class, through the grocery planning process, and then to the store to shop. Take a look!

Update: I learned this morning (3/17) that this segment was picked up by many CBS affiliates around the country too last night, and it also aired in Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco.

That was great!!

I loved the spot on CBS!!! You can see that she did the same happy dance that I do every time I go to the store now! Thank you Jill for sharing your knowledge with us and helping us all save so much money. Even more, thank you for helping to make shopping so much fun. I feel like I did when I was a kid and went shopping and my parents let me buy "fun" stuff. Now, I buy two bags of salad on a great deal and get the same feeling!! Best of all, I feel like I am being a good steward of my money. Thank you!

You looked great Jill!! Now

You looked great Jill!! Now you will have even more people flocking to your sight. Maybe you can single handedly get us all out of this economic crisis :)

Thanks :)

There is supposed to be a second segment airing tomorrow at 5pm on CBS - I'm still trying to get confirmation on that, but they shot so much more footage that wasn't shown here (as is usually the case.) One thing I wish they'd shown? Doris did the Kraft cheese deal, plus the Crystal Lite deal too, so she had over $20+ in Catalinas at the end too! Her end total actually worked out to around $80 after that.

Thanks for watching though :) I just added the clip to the blog too.

Yeah :)

It's always fun to see some deals in action.

Naysayer ABC had a segment last night about how to save money on groceries, its focus being that "coupons aren't the only answer."

Their focus was shopping at discount chains like Aldi and buying generics, avoiding the front-of-store high-margin displays, etc. They didn't 'dis coupons entirely. They suggested making a list and clipping coupons to match before heading to the store. Basically the way all of us USED to shop.

They're the only station you HAVEN'T been on, aren't they? Hmmm... Seems to me that in an attempt to provide a different approach to saving on groceries than the other stations are covering, they're really providing the same old thing. Ironic, eh? (Or maybe that grumpy lady who appears on here from time to time with her rants about her "real friends" works for ABC...)

Did ABC

I believe the only local station Jill has not been on is NBC.
Jill has been on ABC and even did a piece in their studio live in Chicago, but has been months ago.
They should have stopped after having Jill, as she is the best !!!
Rerun her piece or film a new segment !!

Discount chains good if

you really don't have a stockpile of coupons yet. I started couponing Jill's way back in Oct/Nov (i think) and until I had a good supply of coupons on hand, Aldi was still where I shopped the most......now I really can't remember the last time I was there. Maybe for fruit/veg.

I couldn't sleep last night so I was up when the segment came on.....not to sound mean or anything but the thing about making a list, not shopping when hungry (when am I NOT hungry), avoiding the stuff at eye level etc was stuff my mom taught me when I was still really young (like JR high)....so to me the segment just seemed to kill airtime. I was hoping to see something spectacular to top Jill, but I really don't think that is going to happen.

The Sun-Times yesterday also had an article about increasing food prices, etc and the mom in the story was at an Entemann's outlet for bread, etc........I still wonder to myself why they aren't couponing.....just my two cents

Jill has so much more

Jill has so much more potential then that small amount of air time. I just started and am amazed at the savings.

Potential

Any time you do a piece like this, a lot does get left on the cutting room floor, unfortunately. With the coupons she had for the cheese and the sale that was running, they actually paid her to take all that cheese home - but the editing focused on the bread sale instead. What can you do :)
