Batavia Target thief

Yesterday I was at Target in Batavia. I saw a woman near the clearance end cap close to the pharmacy. There is the wall behind the end cap so it is kind of an out of the way area. This woman had carts blocking the aisles on both sides of the end cap and her kids were running back and forth near the area., further blocking the way. I tried to get thru and she ignored me. I noticed her looking at some of those first aid kits that were marked down. She was looking at the coupons that were inside them. I went over an aisle and was watching her periodically because there were some items on clearance I waned to check out. After quite a while 'examining' those first aid coupons, she left. I went over there and everyone of the first aid kits - about 2 dozen were open and all the coupons from every one if them was gone. She did not buy even one of the them BTW.
I wonder if she is also the Menards coupon thief - it's right across the street - and the Geneva Doms is close by too and I recall a post about someone hiding deal items and taking all the coupon booklets.
Ok, all you Batavia and Geneva shoppers, lets keep an eye out for this woman and report her to security. Taking inserts out of papers and items from inside merchandise is shoplifting.
I know Doms and Menards is on to her already. Hopefully she will be caught soon.

I don't blame you for being mad.....

I get p*ssed off too when I see people doing ignorant things...and it sucks that you are going to the store to buy the paper and you can't even get your Q's. I would be ticked....I hope they catch the lady and you can once again get papers w/coupons in them!

Yes, you are all right!

From now on whenever I see a crime being committed - in a store, in a parking lot, on a roadway, anywhere - regardless of what the crime is - theft of your money, phone, child, car - whatever the crime, whatever the location and situation, I will do as you suggest and what you all imply you are doing - I'll turn and walk away and let someone else - like 'security' - take care of it. That's the approach we all should take - it's not happening to me so who cares! Thanks for reminding me that the most important thing in the world is getting that bargain, the heck with everyone and everything else!

NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT!

The next time you see something suspicious going on, take action!

Like you did at Target.
1. Watch and make sure that it really looks suspicious.
2. Check it out after and make sure that it really was suspicious.
3. Wait until the next day and post it here that you saw something suspicious.

Umm...maybe not.
How about telling sombody that can do something about it? Like in this case any Target employee.

i apologize for my post. it

i apologize for my post. it is quite obvious that you lack the maturity to understand what was trying to be said here. i can see how you would compare coupon stealing to some type of child crime. perhaps when you reach high school age this might make more sense.

U r missing the point..

Report it by all means...but why post it on here???? Go ahead let the store know about it but this site is not for what you are posting. With all due respect to you I do understand your frustration but ask yourself..Is this really a BIG deal??? Its not a child being hurt...just respect Jill's site and use it for swapping coupons and deals!!!

Always remember there is always someone above who sees what people do so they never get away with it..Have a great day!! :0)

People come on!!!

People come on!!! Get a life...first of all Target has state of the art security. They have the best of the best and are probably well aware of her. They let it go until they have a case to build. Go about your own business and do your own coupon shopping. Take the info Jill gives and shop the right way and let the stores handle the misuse and theft of coupons. Also who cares if people sell stuff..TO EACH HIS OWN!! ALSO STOP POSTING STUFF LIKE THIS!! Respect Jill for what she provides us and think about what you post before you post it. Take this as a learning experience and make sure you do what you feel is right and don't worry about what other people do.

OMG are you serious!?!?!

You have way too much time on your hands. I'm sure there is some other web site that you can go to and address this problem....CSI BATAVIA perhaps? This is a coupon web site and there was not one thing in your post that led me to a bargain. I realize my post is guilty of the same thing but you people need to STOP!!!!

Oh my....

I'm a Batavia and Geneva shopper! I can't believe this. I am new to Jill's site and did not know about this lady going to the Geneva Dom's. No wonder I couldn't find any of the "Make a Muscle" books. :( Do you have a description of her so I can keep my eye out too?

What is the point of stealing all the coupons if you aren't going to buy any of them? Really???

Due Process

Please remember first of all that Jill allows us to use this forum for FREE and to post at will. It is obvious that Jill puts a lot of her precious time into MONITORING content on this forum because at the end of the day Jill's name is associated with what is posted. People will twist things around and say, "Well, I saw on Jill Cataldo's site that there is a thief on the loose in Batavia who has been seen stealing coupons out of first aid kits at Target and then going to Dom's and taking all the coupon books only after stealing all the inserts at Menards. She then is selling all of these coupons on eBay. Here is her description - be on the lookout." I have children. I shop at these same stores. I might match the description. Can you see where this is going? Please stop.

We have due process in this country. Innocent until proven otherwise. You said that every first-aid kit was missing the coupons. Possibly you looked through every first-aid kit to come to that conclusion. Isn't that what you found her guilty of - looking through every kit? You said she didn't purchase any first-aid kits. Were you the cashier that checked her out?

Have you ever looked at the police blotter in the Batavia newspaper? Countless arrests for theft from local merchants on a weekly basis. The stores you mention have security personnel and security cameras in place both inside the store and in the parking lots. Someone who has an aisle blocked definitely did not go by unnoticed by security. Let them handle this. You always have the option of being a concerned shopper and approaching customer service or calling the store on your cell phone from inside the store.

Thank you for posting this. I'd guess most of my readers have no idea how much email I receive from shoppes (and STORES) on a regular basis saying "But Jill said I could do this/that/the other at Jewel today" and so on.

People who skim the Forum tend not to understand that not everything written here is written by ME, nor do I share the opinions of or agree with everyone. And maintaining the Forum and removing all of the spam, attacks and false info each day is extremely time consuming -- but it must be done, or as you said, people associate these words as being attached to -me.-
