You too can rock this Dominick's deal...

If you picked up the new Dominick's ad recently, you likely noticed that they're running an excellent "Buy 3 Juices, get 2 FREE Snacks" deal through next Wednesday. There are so many ways to work this sale! But if you like the following scenario, scoot right out to the store before midnight, Saturday night, as it depends on a 3-day sale ending 8/28.

Dominick's currently has 5-packs of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese on sale for $2.99 through 8/28, limit 2. Many of the 5-packs have peelies on them for "Buy this package of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, get FREE Capri-Sun 10-pack Roaring Waters."

See where this is going?

Here's a scenario:

Buy 2 Kraft Mac & Cheese 5-packs [WITH peelies for the Capri-Sun] ($2.99 each)
Buy 2 Capri-Sun Roaring Waters (FREE with peelie coupons)
Buy 4 Mott's 64oz. apple juices ($2 each - I used two $2-off-2 coupons from the "Make a Muscle" in-store coupon book)

With 6 juices, we've now qualified for 4 FREE snacks. I went with the Quaker Chewy granola bars, because on the display for the bars, there was a beautiful tearpad of coupons... "Buy 4 Quaker Chewy Granola Bars, get 1 free gallon Lucerne milk!"

And, note that you can still use coupons on the bars, even though they'll be free -- the register will accept them for overage against your end total. I used two .75-off-2 Quaker Chewy coupons (7/25 RP, 5/2 RP.)
So, after all coupons, I paid $8.48 for ten boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese, 2 Capri-Sun 10-packs, 4 Mott's Apple Juices, 4 boxes Quaker Chewy granola bars and a gallon of milk! :) While we prefer organic milk, the Lucerne milk is BGH-free, and while it's been ages since we had non-organic... again, it was FREE. We'll give it a try.

Another way to work the deal -- with 4 Rice Krispie Treats as your free snacks, you can work in those great "$2 off store-brand bread when you buy 2 Rice Krispie Treats" coupons from the "Fuel for School" in-store coupon books, as well as $1-off-2 coupons for the treats themselves from 8/15 RP! That deal will run you $7.98 for ten boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese, 2 Capri-Sun 10-packs, 4 Mott's Apple Juices, 4 boxes Rice Krispie treats and two loaves of store-brand bread!

Note: I thought of trying to work the "Buy 3 Capri-Sun, get FREE Kool-Aid Fun Fizz" tearpad coupons in here too, but you had to buy 3 Capri-Sun, and the price of the Capri-Sun itself isn't that great (it's much cheaper at Jewel this week with the current Kraft Catalina.) But with the $2.99 Mac and Cheese 5-packs, this is a very, very nice deal.

i just have to say, i thought this was a really great deal you found. i went to 2 dominicks--no more peelies on the mac-n-cheese, no muscle coupons, and tearpads were gone on the display, so i couldn't do the deal. but boy if i had, it would have been great--now THAT's the way to coupon.

I went to the one in Oswego this afternoon and did the deal, but they didn't have the mac and cheese with the coupons. Not sure if it was such a great deal without using those, but it is stuff we will use none the less. So glad I was finally able to get a deal to work at Dominick's AND my e-coupons came off.

Free Milk?

How do you get the free milk? I went to dominicks did the exact deal as the first one and didn't get the free milk. I went to customer service and they didn't know what I was talking about. What can I show them so I can get my money back?

they have everything you need to make the deal. I had to look through the boxes of Mac 'n Cheese to find two that had peelies (in the regular aisle, bottom shelf, peelie boxes were more to the left). The free milk coupons were back on a display of the granola bars right by the refrigerated milk section (weren't many left). A couple were on the floor so I picked up what I could find and made a pile of them so whoever wants them could see them!

I didn't do AS good as I could have (didn't have any granola bar coupons, I needed bread so I wanted to do the Rice Krispie part of the deal, and I used my Rice Krispie coupon from the 8/15RP already for another time.)

SO, I ended up with:
7 bottles of Mott's apple (2 $2/2 from MDA book; 1 $1.50/2 from Fall Jewel book)
2 Capri Sun Roaring Waters (2 get free peelies)
4 granola bars
2 Rice Krispie
1 gallon of milk (free milk with granola bar coupon)
1 loaf of Dom bread ($2 off store bread with 2 Rice Krispies)
$15.30

I know I could have done better with a couple granola bar coupons and the Rice Krispie coupon I already used (would have been down to $12 or $13 with that, but I'm still happy with what I got! Since Dom's is taking donations for MDA and I keep getting such great deals there, I keep donating to MDA because I'm so thrilled with myself! It's a win-win!)

That was with tax . . . my total was $14.47.

And I forgot to mention that as I was walking out towards my car I watched in horror as a little old lady came within 3 inches (and I'm not exaggerating) of scraping the side of her car against the side of mine while she pulled into the spot next to me.

There are so many great things going on there this week -- I too did the $1 smoothies ($1 coupons= FREE) - Fresh Express salads are a buck again if you still have those tearpads for "Buy 2, get 2lbs. free bananas" - & got the yogurt too :) You should see what my Dominick's notes for next week look like already! :)
