Peek inside my pantry...

When I filmed last week's segment with Fox News, they also filmed part of my pantry, which didn't make the cut in the piece that aired. But so many of you emailed asking to see what it looked like... so here's the current state of my pantry!

Yes, it's a LOT of stuff. But it's also a lot of stuff I don't have to buy at the store anytime soon. And, a bunch of it will be going to the Grafton Township food pantry in my town next week too. :) I am very excited to be teaching Super-Couponing at the Cosman Cultural Center on Feb. 18th, 2009 at 7:00pm in a class sponsored by Grafton Township itself. We're doing this as a community event to help not only the patrons of the pantry who are currently receiving food there, but also the volunteers at the pantry, who dedicate themselves to keeping the pantry stocked, as they'll be able to better maximize their financial donations to buy more items when they're Super-Couponing! :)

This is also a community-wide FREE event, open to the public. And the Cosman Center is a BIG room... so if you've had any difficulty getting into any one of my classes, come on out this Wednesday night to Huntley, as there are no reservations needed for this one :) Hope to see you there!

cats in the pantry

Jill, my husband has been giving me a hard time about how much time I spend on your website, figuring out the deals for my shopping list. I showed him the picture of you in the pantry and he was quite excited to see the picture of Peter "cat man" Criss staring from behind the bottles of shampoo. He is quite the Kiss fan (he's met them) and now he is a Jill "Cat"aldo fan, too! (We're cracking up as we type this!)
Last week, I sent him to Jewel for the freezer, and he paid with his Kiss credit card.
He's interested in knowing how you became such a big fan.

Ha ha...

I AM a big fan. It's not much of a secret among those who know me well. It's kind of one of those things where I've been a fan so long that I can barely remember when I -wasn't.- I've met them all numerous times over the years, as have my kids -- and if there was a soundtrack to my life, there certainly would be more KISS songs than anything else on it. I had the pleasure of doing some graphics work for Paul during his solo tour in 2006 and I've also done some other graphics projects for the band over the years, as has my husband.

My first exposure to the band was around 1979-1980 when they were on the kids' PBS show "3-2-1 Contact." I remember being both terrified of and fascinated by them at the same time (I was pretty young then!) After that, I got "Dressed to Kill" on vinyl, and a few KISS 8-tracks followed. And... it just never really stopped. I've followed the band all over the country over various tours - I'm very active in the KISS fan community & attend and host KISS conventions each year. I even met my husband in a KISS chat room, long before it was cool to meet your significant other online..!

I actually did blog a big about my KISS "problem" back in October here on this blog too. So... there you go :) I am your rock and roll coupon queen! You're also not the first to notice the KISS posters on the wall in the basement though. One of my friends in our "KISS family" thought it was hilarious that Peter was hanging out in my food pantry. Pete's had a lot harder times than the other guys in the band, you know. Perhaps he needs that free shampoo! :)

Your pantry ROCKS...

literally! Jill, your love of music has been mentioned before, but I can't help but comment that I love how even your pantry rocks. Anyone else notice the Kiss poster peeking out from behind the shampoo?

ha ha ha

at first I thought it was a ghost but then I remembered how much she loves KISS! lol!

My pantry ROCKS!

Yes, indeed, my pantry does ROCK. (Hey, it's in the basement, which also happens to be where many of my KISS posters live. :)

What does your freezer look like?

I am wondering, Jill, if your freezer looks similar to this pantry.

Sort of?

It's usually pretty full - right now it's almost entirely frozen vegetables and meat. And it's not this organized -- it's packed just about as tightly as it can be.

my freezer

I had to take some stuff out of boxes to make my freezer stuff fit in my freezer last night. I thought of jill....but I really want to organize that thing. I am jealous of that pantry though. I don't have anywhere to set up shelves.

Me too!

I had to turn the ice maker off today so I could put one last item (my PF bread from the Dom's deal) in the ice cube bin!

Turn it off?

Turn it off? I've pulled the whole bin OUT completely to make room for frozen stuff in the past, before I had my chest freezer.

"Sorry kids, no ice cubes this week..." hee!

Amazing!

I bet you didn't pay for any of the items either - or very little anyway. Way to go!

I can't wait...

to sell all my "junk" on ebay just so I can set up shelves in my storage space to organize all of my deal stuff like this!

I have a sudden urge....

to go organize my pantry. Wow, your pantry is very impressive. Thank you for sharing with us.

Little soaps!

You really do buy a lot of the little soaps! LOL

"Buy"

Well, yes, I do buy them... but I haven't paid for a single bar yet. :) Those $1 coupons come up with such frequency that they're always free.

Wow

that is amazing!! That is my goal.
