I just purchased these when Domnick was running a good sale a week or so ago. I got 2 boxes for $0.99. Thankfully, that is all I paid because the unopened package will be going to the food pantry! I did 3 or 4 loads of laundry with these sheets and then my washer stopped working! I called the repairman and they came out today. He fished out one of the Purex sheets from the pump inside my washer!!! He told me these should NOT be used in front loaders. I even showed him the packaging where it says that it is ok - he said he advises against these for front loading washers. Just wanted to give all of you a heads up on that!!!

Same thing

happened to my friend. She called Purex about it. (not sure what became of it, will let you know when I talk to her). She made it sound like Purex was going to pay for her repair.

Yup

they paid for everything, including shipping of part. Might be worth a call to them if you going to be out any money for repairs.

Sorry this happened to you

It looks like this is somewhat common in front loaders from reading reviews on Purex 3 in 1. Seems like Purex should give some tips since consumers contacting the company to vent abount this same problem have mentioned it.

Laundry bag

Put it in a mesh laundry bag ... I do that when I use Shout Color Catchers - the Shout box even recommends that for front-loaders. You can probably find the "Repair" manual online for your washer - we've got an HE front-loader which likes to grab little baby socks & jams up the impeller. Hubby has learned how to pop off the bottom panel, remove the 2 or 3 screws to get to the impeller and filter to remove any jammed objects. Worth a try if you or someone is even remotely DIY-minded!!!

Purex sheets getting eaten by front loader???

At first I figured some idiot put the sheet in the detergent dispenser, but it sounds like it really got from the drum to the pump...
Sounds like a crappy design to me (the machine I mean!) - especially if it eats socks.

Great tip to put it in the mesh bag... along with the socks.

Don't you also have to toss the sheet

into the dryer? Didn't you notice it was 'missing' after the wash? Or did it tear into pieces?

The washer jammed mid cycle.

The entire sheet got sucked into the pump of the washer. I didn't really even think about that possibly being the cause - I was too busy dealing with a load of sopping wet clothes and trying to figure out how I was going to wring the water out before I threw them in the dryer.

Thanks for the suggestion of using the laundry bag!!! I love it! I will definitely look into finding the repair manual for it.

Called Purex

thankfully, I wasn't out any money for repairs since my machine is still under warranty. They are sending me coupons for free liquid Purex. The lady asked about what kind of machine I had, when it was made, etc. She said the information would be forwarded to their manufacturing department. They were super nice - just think they should maybe offer up the laundry bag suggestion on their packaging! Or maybe provide a zipper pouch to use in front loaders?
