Deals of the Week for August 9, 2010

Hello, Super-Couponers! This week will mark the two-year anniversary of when I began teaching free Super-Couponing workshops in Chicagoland, and... wow, what a wonderful two years it's been! With the immediate success of those initial few workshops, my life quickly became consumed with writing, blogging, breathing, sleeping and dreaming coupons! (And I wouldn't have it any other way...)

Today also marks another anniversary... the 41st wedding anniversary of my parents! (Hey, had they not met and fallen in love over 40 years ago, I wouldn't be here writing this :) My beautiful mom was my original coupon mentor, and I have great memories of watching her clip coupons and save on our groceries as a kid in the 70s. Of course, the coupon game's changed a lot since then, and we've all taken saving and stockpiling to the next level now. My amazing Dad deserves a big thumbs-up too for understanding why Mom now needs to bring home so many boxes of cereal and bottles of juice, even though their kids are all grown. Mom & Dad, the happiest of anniversaries to you today!

This week's Sunday newspaper contained three inserts: SmartSource, RedPlum, and General Mills.

And - a heads-up -- Kmart is doubling coupons up to and including $1 this week, limit 5 per person per day with your Kmart rewards card. (I did not do breakouts for Kmart this week as there wasn't anything earth-shattering to report.)

Now... ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy .99-$1.50 laundry detergent, .51 pot pies and pasta meals, cheap Fisher Fusions, an ice cream Catalina, FREE Athenos Hummus, FREE Tide Stain Release, FREE Kellogg's cereal, cheap Pop-Tarts, FREE Kraft cheese, cheap Mission tortillas, .37 Wish Bone salad dressing,.25 Juicy Juice (!), cheap and FREE Scotch adhesive products, cheap cat treats, FREE dog treats, FREE Dial body wash, cheap or free Schick 5 Hydro razors, FREE Suave deodorant, moneymaker Dulcolax... so let's get started!

(Print: , Email:, or, jump directly to comments on this week's deals...)

If you're new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations.

It's a good idea to save the grocery and drugstore flyers each week to have on hand & refer to too as you go through the deals! And, if you're new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing® website for a list of coupon classes (most are FREE!) and easy instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!

A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on Illinois stores, the Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you're shopping at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger-owned store, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick's, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

AND... my Super-Couponing® class is now available on DVD! Own the 72-minute video and watch it whenever you like! Click for a video preview & learn how to order!

Unless otherwise noted, GROCERY store deals run through WEDNESDAY of this week,
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday
.

(Also, if you're new, you may not have some of the coupon books that I refer to for some deals. At the bottom of each week's deals, I list free coupon books that you can request to be mailed to you -- register for all of them, as I'll reference them in future weeks. Also, look for promotional/seasonal coupon books in your local stores -- I'll reference these too when applicable.)

Grocery Deals

Starting at Jewel...

The first big "HOORAY!" deal of the week? Jewel's selling the Sunday Chicago Tribune for .99 through 8/29! If you need extra papers for a buck, you no longer have to chase them down at the dollar store or at Menards (though both are still excellent places to pick the Trib up cheaply.) Remember to always check the coupon bag and make sure it's intact, as many readers have unfortunately reported rampant insert theft when buying papers on newsstands or in stores all over Chicagoland ...

A couple of laundry detergent deals! 44-load bottles of Xtra detergent are $1.99. Use the $1 coupon from 6/6 SS and pay .99 - that's .02 a load!

All detergent's a pretty good buy too. It's on sale for $3.99. Use the $1 coupon from 8/1 RP and pay $2.99 -- AND, use the coupon in the Thursday Jewel ad for "FREE Snuggle liquid fabric softener or dryer sheets when you buy All." Get BOTH for $2.99 -- that's $1.50 each.

Reader Beaner2 writes that Pure Protein bars are on sale for .99 again. Use the $1 coupon in August All You and get one free!

Banquet dinners and pot pies as well as Chef Boyardee canned and microwave pastas are on sale for .88, already a pretty good price. Use this $1.50 off 4 coupon, buy 4, and pay $2.02, or .51 each!

There's also a manufacturer coupon in this week's Sunday Dominick's ad for $3 off 10 participating ConAgra foods -- if you exhaust your printables, using this manufacturer coupon on ten Chef Boyardee will bring you to $5.80 for 10, or .58 each!

If you missed the Fisher Fusions nut sale last month, it's back! Fisher Fusions 4-6 ounce packages are on sale for $1.29. Use the $1 coupons from 6/20 SS, 2/28 SS, and 2/07 SS and pay .29!

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Athenos Hummus dips are on sale for $3.99, Buy One, Get One Free. Use this B1G1F coupon, buy two, and get BOTH free!

Mini Super-Couponing lesson: Why does this work? When you use a B1G1F coupon during a B1G1F sale, you will buy none and get two free. Here's why... and remember, it's important to think of your coupons AS cash. If you walk into the store and give them $3.99 in cash, how many packages of Athenos will that pay for? Two -- because the store is selling you two for $3.99. Now, look at your B1G1F coupon. What is its value? Up to $5.49. Think of coupon as stating "up to $5.49 off two packages of Athenos," and when the price of two packages of Athenos is $3.99... the coupon's up-to-$5.49 value pays the entire price. You WILL pay tax on the pre-coupon price, as always... but both item will be free.

It's important to note too that you do not get coupon overage with a free or B1G1F coupon when the value is "up to $5.49." Legally, the cashier must enter the price of the first item, which in this case is $3.99. The store's B1G1F sale makes the second item FREE. If you like learning coupon tips like these, check out my Super-Couponing workshop or DVD!

Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? If not, you're missing out on some GREAT coupons! Jewel has been making coupons available for everything from meats to party trays to free bread and free produce over the past few weeks. I'm impressed with the nice coupons Jewel has been sending to their email subscribers lately & would highly recommend getting on their list if you shop there.

Coupon booklets currently found at Jewel

Kellogg's Fuel For School $20 coupon books - on a school-bus cardboard display at many stores -- here's a list of what's inside.

Jewel meat deals:

  • Fresh chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.49/lb.

Jewel produce deals:

  • Chiquita avocados are .88 each
  • Tomatoes on the vine are .88/lb.
  • Michigan green peppers are .98/lb.
  • Michigan green beans, eggplant, zucchini or yellow squash are $1.48/lb.
  • Farm Stand baby-cut
  • Peaches, nectarines or pluots are $1.99/lb.

(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is -- beef, pork, poultry) it's a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices -- ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good "buy" benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)

Let's go to Dominick's...

Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick's currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick's deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick's does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) - if your store doubles, you'll do even better with many of these deals.

Reader Kolder spotted a quickie deal on Rold Gold Pretzels. They're on sale for $1.49/ea. Many bags have peelies on them for $1.00 off one, making these .49! It's worth noting too that all snacks and sodas are 50% off with the current sale too, so if you're looking for something specific that doesn't go on sale often, it might be a good week to buy.

FREE Tide Stain Release returns! It's on sale for $5.99 with Super Coupon. Use the $3 ecoupon at www.pgesaver.com and stack it with the $3 manufacturer coupon from 8/1 PG, 7/4 PG (exp) 5/2 PG (exp,) 3/28 RP (exp,) or 1/10 RP (exp) and it's FREE!

There are 2 new coupon books in Dominick's stores this week -- "Make a Muscle, Make a Difference" has $39 worth of manufacturer coupons inside, and the new "Serve up a Sandwich" booklet has $6 worth of manufacturer and store coupons too. (My favorites in this book? $1 off any butter top or split top store-brand bread, and $1 off a produce purchase of $5 or more - full coupon listing here)

If you have the "Make a Muscle" book, here's an easy deal you can do on Glad bags. Many varieties of Glad bags are on sale for $2.49. Load this $2-off-2 ecoupon from Cellfire, and stack it with the $2-off-2 manufacturer coupon in the "Make a Muscle" book. Buy 2 and pay .98 for BOTH, or .49 each!

Buy 10, Save $10 Catalina sale!

What a fun sale. Cereals will be FREE with the right coupons here! And, if you're a rebater, there's also a "Buy 10, get $10" mail-in rebate on Kellogg's. You will need your original receipt and the 10 product UPCs to do the rebate, and you'll also need the form -- so far, the only store readers have reported finding tearpads of the forms in is Woodmans. But, the form does not state anything about what store the purchases must be made in, only that all 10 must be on the same receipt.

Here's a list of products and matchups! Remember, buying 10 of these will drop each of the prices shown by one dollar per item, before coupons, when you figure in the $10 Catalina you're getting back.

Eggo waffles - $2
(LOOK for tags in store that say "Buy 4 or more and they're .99" - if your store's participating in THIS sale, buying 10 Eggos will cost you $9.90 with a $10 Catalina coming back! FREE WAFFLES! Readers have also reported though that the instant-savings isn't always coming off automatically at the register, so watch carefully when your items are scanned if you're going for this deal.)

- $2 off fresh fruit when you buy 2 Keebler or Sunshine Right Bites - Kellogg's "Fuel for School" coupon book

(In the case of the "Fuel For School" coupons, the "bonus" items they're for don't count toward your Catalina goal, but if you can work them in to get other things as part of this deal? Supreme! Some varieties of store-brand sandwich bags, for example, are on sale for $1-$2, so they're FREE along with your cheap/free cereal!)

Easiest scenario here? Buy 10 boxes of $1.99 cereal. Use a combination of the $2-off-2 coupons from June's Jewel "Score More Savings" book and $1 Cinnabon cereal coupons (inserts, printables.) Pay $9.90 and get a $10 Catalina - and with the "Fuel for School" coupons, get free sandwich bags too!

And THEN, if you've been lucky enough to find a $10 mail-in-rebate form for the Kellogg's (noted above too -- readers have spotted these at Woodmans) send it all in for a very sweet moneymaker! Again, if you're doing the rebate, save your receipt AND the UPCs from the packages -- you'll need them all.

This next deal's been running for a few weeks now, but I bumped it up with the new deals, because it just got sweeter this week! Doms is running a "Buy 5, save $5" on lunchmeats and cheeses that overlaps with two of the cheeses in the $5 Catalina deal (Deli Deluxe and Deli Fresh cheese slices.) With the overlap and the right coupons, you'll be taking home FIVE packages of cheese that's free after instant-savings, coupons and Catalina! :)

You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.

Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals of the week for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:

First off, here's the super-hot deal on Juicy Juice everyone's talking about! Varieties of Juicy Juice (8-pack juice boxes, 46oz or 64oz bottles) are on sale at Meijer for $2 a bottle. Buy four and get a $3 Catalina. So far, so good... but let's add coupons!

8/1 RP2 has a $1-off-2 manufacturer coupon for Juicy Juice. Meijer Mealbox had a GREAT $2-off-4 store coupon to stack in with this too last week on their Mealbox site... but due to the difference in sales cycles between the Illinois/Indianapolis and Michigan/Indiana, the Mealbox coupons have since changed to new ones for the week.

But that very nice $2-off-$4 Meijer coupon is still floating around out there, and it doesn't expire until 8/27. How to get it? Hot Coupon World maintains a "Meijer Coupon Generator," which links to those hidden, yet unexpired, Meijer Mealbox coupons. Another bonus? You can print multiples of them on the same page, saving paper. So, head over, print that, and put your deal together:

Buy 4 Juicy Juice ($8)
Use one $2-off-$4 Meijer store coupon and either one or two $1-off-2 manufacturer coupons from 8/1 RP.
With one manufacturer coupon, pay $5 and get $3 back! 4 bottles for $2 is .50 a bottle!
With two manufacturer coupons, pay $4 and get $3 back! 4 bottles for $1 is .25 a bottle!

More printables to possibly work in:
- $1 off juice boxes - printable
- $1 off juice - printable
- $1 off Immunity variety - printable
- $1 off sparkling variety - printable

If you want to keep going, with NO manufacturer coupons and one Meijer $2-off-$4, pay $6 and get $3 back - 4 bottles for $3 is .75 a bottle -- still a steal for 100% juice!

Note that the Catalina you get DOES NOT ROLL. It states right on it that if you use it to buy more Juicy Juice, you will not get another $3 Catalina. But there are plenty of other things to spend that Cat on at Meijer this week, so do as many rounds of 4 Juicy Juice as you like, then go back and buy your other groceries.

Meijer is the only store I know of that actually runs instant-savings deals on socks and underwear! (Hey, we all need them.) We JUST finished the Kellogg's/Fruit of the Loom deal, and the new deal is on Hanes!

Buy $10 worth of Nabisco cookies and crackers (all sizes and varieties included!) and get $10 instant savings on 3 packages of Hanes Basics, including t-shirts, socks and underwear.

Here's a list of some products and matchups (remember, there are many more in-store as all varieties are included...)

Chips Ahoy
- $1 off - July All You
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Crackerfuls
- $1 off - 6/6 SS
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Honey Maid Graham Crackers
- $1 off 3 when you buy graham crackers, Hershey's milk chocolate and Kraft Jet Puffed marshmallows
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Nabisco multipacks
- $1 off 2 - printable
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Oreo
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Ritz crackers
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Teddy Grahams
- .75 off 2 cookies or crackers - 8/8 SS

Buying $10 worth of THOSE products will give you $10 instant savings off any THREE of these:

Hanes boys or girls 6 or 7-packs ankle socks - $3.99

Hanes boys 3 or 4 packs underwear - $4.99

Hanes boys 5 or 6 packs crew T-shirts - $5.99

Hanes women's 6 or 7 packs of socks - $5.49

Hanes women's 6 or 7 packs panties - $5.99

Hanes men's 10 or 12 packs socks - $7.99

Hanes men's 3 or 4 packs boxers - $7.49

Hanes men's 5 or 6 packs crew t-shirts - $8.49

Hanes men's 4 or 6 packs boxer briefs - $8.49

Meijer meat deals:

  • Pork shoulder bone-in country style ribs are .99/lb.
  • Fresh grade A boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.

Meijer produce deals:

  • Bi-color sweet corn is .20 an ear
  • Zucchini, eggplant, salad cucumbers or green beans are .69/lb.
  • Green peppers are .88/lb.
  • Roma tomatoes are .88/lb.
  • California Midnight Moon, Sunrise Red, Starless Ruby, Golden Meadow Plums or Pluots are .99/lb.
  • California red or green seedless grapes are .99/lb.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you're in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you're reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store... Confusing? Yes.

AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES Meijer location, they haven't been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the store is newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Off to Target...

Here's a little deal on Scotch Magic Tape! It's on sale for .50 a roll. Buy 3 and use the $1-off-3 coupon from 8/8 SS -- you'll pay .50 for 3, or about .17 a roll...

Along with that, here's a deal on Scotch Post-Its! Reader Mr. Deal writes to say they're on sale for $1. Use this $1 coupon and... do the math! :)

Attention Axe fans! Here's a good deal on Axe body products. Axe gift sets are on sale for $6.99 each at Target. The gift sets include either 3 body sprays, 2 shampoos (large and small sizes) or shower gel & detailing tool. When you buy 2, you'll get a $5 Target gift card! Let's add coupons...

- $1.50 off shower gel gift set - 8/1 RP
- $1 off shower gel gift set - 8/1 RP

With these two coupons, buy 2, pay $11.48 and get a $5 gift card -- that drops the price to $6.48 for 2, or $3.24 each. With two $1.50 coupons, pay $10.98 and get $5 - $2.99 a set.

AND... if you use Target's mobile coupons, there's a bonus $1 Target store coupon to stack! With that, you'd pay $9.98 for two and get $5 = $2.49 each.

This is an unadvertised sale, so scan your Axe gift sets at the price scanner to see the details of the gift card promo. If the item you're buying is included, the price scanner will show it as a qualifying item for the deal.

Sale runs through August 28th.

Reader Kolder spotted a cheap cat treat deal! Hartz Crunch and Clean cat treats are on sale for $1.66. Use the $1.50 coupon from 8/8 SS ad 6/6 SS and pay .16 a bag!

And, in keeping with our pet treat theme, reader Avenger writes to share a FREE dog treat deal! Cesar dog treats are on temporary price cut at his store for $2.99. Use the $2 manufacturer coupon from 8/8 RP and stack it with the $1 Target store coupon from 5/23 RP! Your dog will enjoy his or her FREE treats!

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

The Big Swiffer Deal

(This deal's legendary! If you hold your coupons and play them right, it's always cheaper to buy a Swiffer and a refill than buying the Swiffer or the refill alone. I've done this deal numerous times over the past few years in one form or another...)

You'll need the Target store coupon for $3 off the Swiffer Starter Kit from the 6/27 Target insert (some editions of the Tribune did not receive this insert) and the "Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit, get a FREE refill coupon from the Home Made Simple: Decor Done Right coupon book.

Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit ($8.99 at most stores.) Your $3 coupon knocks this down to $5.99. Now, get the LARGEST Swiffer refill you can find, as the coupon does not specify a size or quantity for your refill. (I like the 36-count Swiffer wet floor wipes, which usually sells for $14! It comes in a large cardboard "case" as opposed to the plastic tubs, and I've only seen this size at Target.) Pay $5.99 for the Swiffer AND the wipes -- that's cheaper than buying the wipes alone.

Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. They are Target store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with. Load coupons here. You can also print these offers by going to www.target.com/save and entering your phone number.

Remember too that you get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won't have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)

And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today's Deals of the Week! We're all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you... to YOU!

It's a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month -- typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you've recouped the cost of the magazine, and you're on your way to even bigger savings.)

Post-it Coupons

Went to Walmart today since both Target and Walgreens seem to be out of Post-its. The cashier took my Post-it coupons tossed them and showed me a copy of the same coupon that they had hand written 'no good' on and told me the manufacturer said they were invalid. She said they were on a fraudulent site. When I printed them the link seems to be from 3M did anyone else have issues? I have since printed more coupons and will look elsewhere for them as the coupon is good until 9/30/10.

wrong place

wrong place

I was wondering the same...

...a couple times at Dominick's I loaded ecoupons and also used manf. coupons and the register beeped. One time a checker did not allow me to use paper coupons on top of the ecoupons and stated that I already used manf. coupons and I can only use one manf. coupon per item. Then, other checkers just manually entered the manf. coupons that beeped. I always thought the loaded ecoupons were store coupons as well, since we load them to our store card....but I have had more beeps recently. Is something changing??

Only the Coupons.com coupons

If you load a coupon from Coupons.com to your Dominick's card, you can't also use a manufacturer coupon on that, as you are loading a MANUFACTURER coupon. Cellfire, PGE, Shortcuts aren't considered manufacturer coupons.

load to card from Coupons??

I can only print coupons from Coupons.com, not load them onto my card. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Dominick's link

The Dominick's link under Coupon Tools on the left of this page will bring you to where you can load them to you Fresh Values Card.

Thanks for the clarification

Thanks for the clarification Jill! I thought there was something going on that I didn't realize.

Dom's Cat on Cheese?

They were out of the DD plain singles and I got a raincheck. I know there is an auto $5 off if you purchase in 5's...is there a cat as well? IF so, how long is the CAT promo?

the cat promo for kraft is

the cat promo for kraft is until 8/15..its a $5 cat when you purchase 5 participating products

Thank you

I've been checking back when I am out and about. I have a raincheck, but hope they get more in before the 15th. Found some in the freezer when I moved the icecream. Yea! We love to make cheesy scrambled eggs and were out (or so I thought) of cheese singles.

ecoupons confusion

have a crazy question that I need a little help on when I load ecoupons from p&g esaver, short cuts.com and cell fire. Are these considered manufacture coupons or are the Dominick's coupons. Can I stack them?

These are considered store

These are considered store coupons and are stackable

Walgreens

Went to the Walgreens at 500 Northwest Hwy in Cary today. On the end cap in the back of the store they have First Aid cases on sale with $15 worth of coupons in them for $.50 each.
Inside the coupons are for
Neosporin
Band-Aid
Cortaid
Bengay
Benadryl
They expire 12/31/10

Kelloggs coupons

Anyone else having issues finding the Cinnabon $1 printable? I can't seem to locate it. I can only find a .75 printable on Kellogg's site. Also, I'm only seeing a $1 off 3 coupon, not $1.25 off 3. Did they change in the past few days? DH was nice and told me today we NEED cereal! :P

Lowered amounts

It's not uncommon for manufacturers to offer a lower-amount coupon once the print limit for the higher-amount coupon has been reached. To them (and to shoppers) it's better than having a link that says the coupon has reached its print limit. On Sunday, the links -were- active to the higher amounts, but my blog is incredibly widely read...

Wow

So the coupon was exclusively for your blog readers???

No

Jill means that she has a lot of readers, and they will print the coupons for the deals. Once the limit is reached, which quickly happens with that number of prints, the coupons are gone.

Exactly.

Stopped at Meijers in RM looking for the 46 oz juicy juice. They were out of it of course. But one of the managers said it was fine to substitute the 64 oz size for the same price. Then he also told us to tell the cashier to push through the Meijer Mealbox coupons on it. So we bought 12 64 oz bottles for $.25 each after getting the $3.00 cat back. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else can get the same great deal.

Juicy Juice

We did the same thing at the new Tinely Park store last night. They would only let us do it once though :(

Tampons at Walgreens

I went purchased the Kotex tampons today and received a catalina for a full box of Playtex tampons FREE. Gotta love it!

Catalinas

Can someone explain the catalinas a little bit to me? I understand how to get them, but I am confused about using them. For example, can I use a catalina to pay for something else that generates a catalina? What does it mean when people say a catalina rolls?
Thanks!

Catalinas...are explained...

...on the left hand side of Jill's site.
read up..and there is a LOT of info here...
Under .."SHOP SMARTER"..click on "Catalina MaDness"..

You can use a catilna for

You can use a catilna for something else that generates a cat..for example if you are doing a deal for p&g at jewel and are buying con agra that generates a cat you can pay with the p&g cat...when they say it rolls this means you can buy more of the same product with a cat generated from the same product...the only store you CANNOT do this at is wags..if you purchase something from p&g and recv a rr you cannot buy the same item or another item from p&g and pay with that cat..if you do you will not recv another rr..ocassionally wags deals do roll but they are usually caught and fixed within a day...hope this helps

wags catalinas

The one thing I learned about the Walgreens catalinas is to do my shopping at Walgreens first, then take the catalinas to Jewel where they are accepted like cash! This makes it a lot less complicated than trying to keep track of what will and will not roll at Walgreens.

Juicy Juice

Stopped at meijer this am. Went and got the 64oz Juicy Juice drinks and was told these were not on sale for the $2/4... Sign clearly showed it tho. Didn't have time so will have to go back later.

Juicy Juice

Only the 46 oz Juicy Juice are on sale at Meijer, not the 64oz or the boxes. The ad states 46oz, all varieties and the mealbox is only for the 46oz. The catalina will print when you buy any four 46oz,64 oz or boxes, but only the 46oz is on sale. They will give you a raincheck.

do you mean 46oz?

The $2/4 MMB Q says 46oz

All Laundry Detergent Deal?

I went to the Gurnee jewel twice today, two different cashiers, and the grayslake jewel once and I was told the same thing all three times. I was using the $1 off one All laundry detergent and I was stacking that with the free snuggle fabric softener from the jewel ad this week. I was told the same thing all three times, that I could only use one or the other coupon but not both together. I know that they are both MFQ but the discounts are off of two different products and I told the cashier this but she said that because the free snuggle coupon required "qualifying purchase" as she said, that I could not also use a coupon on the "qualifying purchase". I thanks the cashier each time and said I did not want the items then. Are they correct? If they are not correct then what should I do? I dont want to drive two a third Jewel!

I went to our Jewel in

I went to our Jewel in Minooka today and used the $1 off coupon for the All, the $1 off coupon for the snuggle, and the Jewel coupon for the buy All get the Snuggle free. You should of asked for the manager because in their policy it states you can use a jewel coupon with a manufacturer's coupon. They are wrong. I got both my All and the Snuggle for $1 each. So I got a bargin.

WRONG.

The cashier may have allowed it, but it was WRONG. Your "Buy All get Snuggle free" is NOT a Jewel store coupon. It is a manufacturer coupon. You used a $1 manufacturer coupon AND a Free Snuggle coupon on the SAME bottle of Snuggle, and this is coupon fraud. Do you actually think it is correct and ethical to get a dollar off of something you are also simultaneously getting free? That is TWO manufacturer coupon discounts on the same item. The cashier should never, never have allowed that.

PLEASE do not continue to post about this "deal" as it is very confusing for new coupon users, and it is NOT CORRECT COUPON USAGE.

Different?

Jill, not disputing what you said but how is this different from using a coupon on a free item - like at WAGS, CVS, Target? Like if a store has a BOGO sale and you use two man. coupons?

Because

Because the store's own sale is making the second item free, not a manufacturer coupon.

A store that allows one coupon "per item purchased" will allow you to use ONE manufacturer discount on EACH item. You are still purchasing 2 items in a B1G1F sale at the store - even if one is priced at $2 and the other at $0. Consequently, the register will accept a coupon for each, as you have PURCHASED two. You are still only using one manufacturer discount/coupon PER item, regardless of the selling prices of those items.

-----------

Now, with the Snuggle/All, here's why it's different:

All is $3.99 a bottle
Snuggle is $3.99 a bottle

Use $1 coupon on All bottle - legitimate use, ONE coupon being used on the bottle of All
Use Buy All get Snuggle Free on Snuggle bottle - also legitimate use, ONE coupon being used on the bottle of Snuggle.

You can't then use a second $1 coupon on the SAME bottle of Snuggle -- only one manufacturer coupon or discount is allowed PER item purchased.

Does that make sense?

-----------

Now, if the Snuggle were on sale "Buy All, Get Snuggle free" AT THE STORE, meaning no coupon involved, then yes, you could use a $1 coupon on each -- but you cannot use a dollar-off AND a "item free" manufacturer coupon on the same, single item.

Just want to make myself clear

I was trying to use the 1$ off coupon on the ALL, NOT on the snuggle. I know that I can not use two MFQ on one product especially if it is already free. If I was not clear on what I was doing then I am sorry. Somehow I think things got very confusing and out of hand in this sting of posts.

It wasnt your post they were

It wasnt your post they were referring to I beleive it is the one after yours that they are talking about..as far as the deal you were doing your are correct to use the jewel ad man q for the snuggle and a man $1 q for the all..the other post was referring to using a q on the all and a $ off q on the snuggle along with the jewel ad manq which CANNOT be done..

I was just

going to post the same thing - you're good! :)

The coupon in the Jewel ad

is a manufactures coupon for a free Snuggle when you buy the all. The coupon is giving you the snuggle free thus no other coupon can be used on the Snuggle. If the store had a sale buy all get snuggle free then you could use a coupon on the snuggle. Can NOT use 2 manufactures coupons on 1 item.

Correct!

Spoken like a pro! :)

Takes one

to know one...learned from the BEST!!!

where did you find a jewel

where did you find a jewel coupon for this...I used the $1 off all and then used the free snuggle coupon but did you have a store coupon for the snuggle? If one was not a store q (the one in the paper for the free snuggle was a man q) then you used three man q's and it shouldnt have worked..is there a jewel q out there?

Wrong

I have done this same type of deal many times before. You are still purchasing the All (though for $1 less than the shelf price with your coupon). The $1 Q applies to the All and the Free Q applies to the Snuggle for having bought the All.

Can't imagine why these cashiers wouldn't let you do this deal.

Sorry.

Hmmm... I went to Gurnee

Hmmm... I went to Gurnee Jewel on Sunday- did self checkout. I had 2 ALL q's, so I did the deal twice in one transaction. Cashier didn't question it at all. When did you go?

Going to try again today

I went yesterday afternoon and again at midnight to gurnee and then I went to grayslake just after midnight. I am going to try again today but I need to know if this is something I should talk to a mang. about and if so what should I tell them?

Gurnee Jewel

Just got back from Jewel and had zero problems using both coupons. I did go to a lane with a cashier I was familiar with. When the coupon beeped for the free Snuggle she knew exactly what to do!

Another Dumb Question.......

I know Dom's take expired q's but will they also take expired printable's??

Just askin'! Sorry, I'm really wet behind the ears......I'm takin' Jill's class in a couple weeks!=)

Yes

they do!

oops

home owners insurance

has anyone talked to their insurance agent about the amount of product they have in their house? is there coverage for it, if so how much and how much did it cost you? Does the coverage cover just food or does it cover all your goods? What insurance do you have?

I am just stating couponing but i can see how quickly my "store" can grow and i was just think about what it would be like if i lost it all. I think as it is now I only have like 500 dollars for food and stuff in the house.

Woodstock Jewel Hummus and Gift Card Catalina

The Jewel in Woodstock will accept the B1G1 for the hummus and they will let you use your $10 gift card catalina towards a Jewel gift card. I specifically asked the customer service manager and she said I could so I did. I got a $10 Jewel gift card for $0.

Catalinas
