Deals of the Week for June 28, 2010

Hello, Super-Couponers! I can't believe we're already a third of the way through this summer "vacation" (from my kids' perspective, anyway!) The 4th of July is rapidly approaching, and this week's there are a lot of great deals to be had on meats for grilling and other cookout-planning supplies.

This week's newspaper contained two inserts: SmartSource and RedPlum.

But there are also a lot of OTHER coupons in the Tribune you'll want to keep too! Some editions of the Trib received an "Amazing Brands, Amazing Savings" insert with $28 worth of Target store coupons in it -- pull that out and keep it! There's also a Target store coupon for Vaseline on page 9 of the Tribune (the newspaper part) AND the Parade Magazine has a bunch of manufacturer coupons in it too, including B1G1F Pantene, $5 off Align and Prilosec, $3 off Metamucil. (With coupons like these, I usually pull them out and date them with "6/27" and keep them with my regular coupon inserts for future deals.)

Ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy cheap Chips Ahoy, bargain Smuckers ice cream toppings, cheap Hellman's mayonnaise, cheap Betty Crocker fruit snacks, $1 General Mills and Kellogg's cereal (some of which includes FREE milk in the deal too,) cheap or FREE Stayfree, .49 Dole juices, cheap Ball Park franks, FREE Tide Stain Release, .49 cream cheese, cheap Popsicles and ice cream, .49 Ragu, a great deal for Coca-Cola and 2 FREE tickets to Brookfield Zoo, FREE Ortega Mexican foods, FREE Reach toothbrushes and floss, FREE Charmin, the classic cheap Swiffer & Swiffer Refill deal (again!), cheap Scrubbing Bubbles (again,) FREE Blistex lip care, FREE Dentyne gum, .50 Xtra laundry detergent, FREE M&Ms, cheap Windex and Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl cleaner and FREE PowerBars! Let's get started!

(Print: , Email:, or, jump directly to comments on this week's deals...)

If you're new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations.

It's a good idea to save the grocery and drugstore flyers each week to have on hand & refer to too as you go through the deals! And, if you're new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing® website for a list of coupon classes (most are FREE!) and easy instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!

A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on Illinois stores, the Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you're shopping at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger-owned store, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick's, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

AND... my Super-Couponing® class is now available on DVD! Own the 72-minute video and watch it whenever you like! Click for a video preview & learn how to order!

Unless otherwise noted, GROCERY store deals run through WEDNESDAY of this week, and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.

(Also, if you're new, you may not have some of the direct-mailed coupon books that I refer to for some deals. At the bottom of each week's deals, I list free coupon books that you can request to be mailed to you -- register for all of them, as I'll reference them in future weeks.)

Grocery Deals

Starting at Jewel...

Oh, let's start off with a fun one! Chips Ahoy cookies are on sale for $1.99. Use the $1 off Chips Ahoy with Reeses or Heath from July All You and pay .99!

Smuckers ice cream toppings are on sale for $1.50 each. Near the ice cream, look for coupon books called "Cover Up! Your Vanilla is Showing." Inside, find coupons for $1.25 off 2 and Buy 3, get the 4th free. Buy 2 with the first coupon and pay $1.75 for 2, .88 for each... or buy 4, use both coupons, and pay $3.25 for 4, or .81 each. (5/16 RP also has a $1-off-2 coupon.)

New York Style Bagel Chips are $1.50 a bag. Use this .75 coupon and pay .75!

Hellman's Mayonnaise is on sale for $1.99, limit 2. Use the .75 coupon from 6/27 RP and/or this .75 printable and pay $1.24!

Here's a great deal on Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks! They're on sale for $1.50 each when you buy 4 (MUST buy in multiples of 4.) And, you're going to want to buy 4, because the fruit snacks are also part of a national Catalina deal:

Purchase three Fruit by the Foot, Fruit Gushers, Fruit Roll-Ups, or Fruit Stickerz, Receive a $1.50 Catalina
Purchase four, Receive a $2.50 Catalina
Purchase five or more, Receive a $3.50 Catalina

Note that this Catalina does NOT include the fruit shapes (such as Scooby Doo, Spider-Man, Wonder Pets, etc.) so stick to ONLY what's on the list to get that Catalina! And, because this is a buy-4 deal, don't buy 5, as it will be full price at $2.50 for that 5th box - not a deal.

Now, with the Catalina, you're looking at $3.50 for 4 boxes. Let's add coupons: .50-off 2 printable, another .50-off-2 printable.

With two printables, pay $5 for 4 boxes and get a $2.50 Catalina back -- $2.50 for 5 is .63 a box...

Selected General Mills cereals are also part of the "$1.50 each when you buy 4" sale. There are $1-off-2 coupons in the 5/30 GM insert, 6/6 SS has $1-off-2 Cheerios, and printables for $1-off-2 here and here. And if you need more $1-off-2 coupons, print them here and here and .

Any of these will knock the cereal to $1 a box - not fabulous, but in the absence of better deals, not awful.

Prefer Kellogg's? Kellogg's Bite Size Mini Wheats are on sale for $1.50 a box when you purchase in multiples of THREE. 5/23 RP has a $1.50-off-3 coupon that will also knock these down to $1 a box, post-coupon. 6/27 RP has a $1.25-off-3 coupon that's not bad either. And, the "Score More Savings" coupon book found at Jewel has a $1-off-2 coupon inside as well (note that with this, you'd need to buy in quantities of 6 to use three $1-off-2 coupons, again resulting in cereal that's $1 per box.)

Though, if you want Kellogg's cereals, the deal's even a little better at Dominick's this week... but we'll get to that in a bit.

Want some Solo patriotic plates, cups, or napkins for your 4th of July cookout? All are on sale for $1.50. Use the $1 coupon from 6/20 SS and pay .50! If you want more, there are also .75 printables here.

Act II popcorn is cheap (that is, if you didn't load up on FREE microwave popcorn during the last great Catalina sales!) It's $1 a box (and also part of the "Buy 10, get the 11th free" promo in the ad too.) Use this $1-off-2 printable, buy 2 and pay $1 for both, or .50 each! There's also a .40 coupon in the 6/20 SS.

We all like getting toothbrushes free, but if you need one now, this isn't a bad price. Oral B toothbrushes are on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupon from 6/27 RP and pay .50...

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Stayfree maxi pads (24ct.) are on sale for $2. Use the $2 coupon from 3/28 RP and take them home FREE! UPDATED with new coupons for this week... use the B1G1F coupon from 6/27 RP on one pack and the $1 coupon from 4/25 SS and get two more for .99.

OR... get them totally free at CVS... read on...

Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? If not, you're missing out on some GREAT coupons! Jewel has been emailing coupons out for everything from meats to party trays over the past few weeks. I have really been impressed with the nice coupons Jewel has been sending to their email subscribers lately & would highly recommend getting on their list if you shop there.

June is National Dairy Month, and Jewel is running a "Buy 5, Save $5" Catalina sale on selected dairy products! This is the LAST week for the sale, as it ends 7/1!

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Jewel's house brand of diapers, Baby Basics, are a good buy with coupons! Jumbo packs are $7.99-$16.99 each at most stores depending on size of box/package. Use these $4 printables here (print 2!) and cut that price nicely!

Let's go to Dominick's...

Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick's currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick's deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick's does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) - if your store doubles, you'll do even better with many of these deals.

First off, if you haven't entered my FREE contest to win a $100 Dominick's gift card, why not? All you need to do is respond to this blog post. This contest is sponsored by Cellfire.com, and I think $100 would brighten ANYONE's summer grocery budget!

*A note on Dominick's Super Coupons:

What does "minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required" mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.

Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals of the week for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, and St. Charles:

My blog readers may remember a great "Staycation deal" for free passes to the Shedd Aquarium with the purchase of $15 worth of Coca-Cola and Meijer brand potato chips. If you missed that deal, it's back! This time, the deal is for TWO FREE passes to the Brookfield Zoo. Again, purchase $15 worth of Coca-Cola products and Meijer potato chips, in any combination, and receive 2 Brookfield Zoo passes.

12-packs of Coca-Cola are currently on sale 3-for-$10, or $3.33 each. Buy 4 ($13.33) and a bag of Meijer chips ($1.99) - for $15.32, you've got pop and chips for the 4th of July, AND two tickets to the zoo. Zoo admission is $13.50, so this is a $27 value! It's also limit one per TRANSACTION, so if you're going for multiple passes here, split them up into separate trips through the lane.

Here's a nice FREEBIE! Sweet Baby Ray's marinades are on sale for $1. Use the $1 coupon from 5/23 SS and it's yours... FREE!

Here's another! Ortega foods are all 25% off this week. Ortega canned black beans are on sale for .67/can. Use the $1-off-2 coupon from May All You and a printable. Buy 2, and stack those coupons with the $1-off-4 store coupon from Meijer Mealbox. Your manufacturer coupons knock these to .17 a can... and the Mealbox coupon makes them FREE with a little overage! Nice deal!

You can do the same deal on Ortega taco mixes as well. The 4/18 SS insert also has a .75-off-2 coupon if you want to stock up more...

Thomas' English Muffins are on sale for $2.99, B1G1F. Use the .50 coupon from Meijer Mealbox and pay $2.49 for 2, or $1.25 each! (Meijer store coupons typically do not scan on the "free" item -- they do say "one per item" but also that they can't be combined with an additional store promo.) But if yours does, you're looking at $1.99 for 2, or about $1 each.

If you found the "Cover Up! Your Vanilla Is Showing" ice cream topping coupon books at Jewel, they're an even better buy at Meijer this week. Smucker's Ice Cream Toppings are on sale for $1.67 each, but Meijer Mealbox has a .50 store coupon for Smuckers! With the store coupon, you're at $1.17 each. Now, buy 2, use that nice $1.25-off-2 coupon from the book, and pay $1.09 for 2, or about .55 a jar. Add two more jars, two more Mealbox coupons, and the "Buy 3, get 1 Free" from the book, and you'll pay $2.26 for four, which again works out to about .55 each.

If you don't have the ice cream coupon book, there's a $1-off-2 in the 5/16 RP to work in with this too. With that coupon and two Mealbox .50 coupons, pay $1.34 for 2, or .67 each.

Rice Krispie Treats are on sale for $1.99 each. Let's bring that price down! Buy 3, use two $1 printable manufacturer coupons and stack them with this $1 off 3 Meijer store coupon. This knocks the price down to .99 a box.

If you missed the Purina Busy Bone dog treat deal last week at Jewel, it's running at Meijer this week! Purina Busy Bones Purina Busy Bone dog treats are on sale for $2.50. Buy two, use the $1 coupon from 5/2 SS and use the Buy One, Get One Free coupon from 3/28 SS1. You'll pay $1.50 for 2 packages, or .75 each!

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Aunt Millie's bread, hot dog or hamburger buns are on sale for $1. Use a .55 off coupon for Aunt Millie's from the 6/13 RP or 5/16 RP to cut this by more than half!

Meijer meat deals:

  • Fresh Grade A bone-in chicken breasts are .99/lb.
  • Center cut half boneless pork loin is $1.99/lb.

Meijer produce deals:

  • Florida bi-color sweet corn is .17 an ear - cheapest I've seen it all season so far...
  • Georgia Vidalia sweet onions are .88/lb.
  • Red or green seedless grapes are .97/lb.
  • California white flesh peaches, nectarines or apricots are .99/lb (organic varieties are $1.29/lb.)
  • 5.6-6oz. containers of raspberries or blackberries are $1

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you're in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you're reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store... Confusing? Yes.

AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES Meijer location, they haven't been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the store is newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Readers outside Illinois will want to check with their local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated stores to determine how they handle coupon doubling.

Off to Target...

Many editions of the Tribune received a great Target insert in Sunday's paper with $28 worth of Target store coupons in it. Here are a couple good deals you can do with these coupons, as well as some others from direct-mailed coupon books I've featured on the blog over the past few months...

The Little Charmin Deal

You'll need the Target store coupon for FREE Charmin Freshmates wipes tub with purchase of Charmin toilet paper from the 6/27 Target insert...
The Target store coupon for $1 off any Charmin toilet paper from 5/16 RP ...
and the $1 off Charmin coupon from the P&G Year of Savings coupon book.

4-packs of Charmin Basic toilet paper are $1.99 at many Target stores. With these three coupons, get the 4-pack of toilet paper PLUS the tub of Freshmates... all FREE!

The Big Swiffer Deal

(This deal's legendary! If you hold your coupons and play them right, it's always cheaper to buy a Swiffer and a refill than buying the Swiffer or the refill alone. I've done this deal numerous times over the past few years in one form or another...)

You'll need the Target store coupon for $3 off the Swiffer Starter Kit from the 6/27 Target insert...
and the "Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit, get a FREE refill coupon from the Home Made Simple: Decor Done Right coupon book.

Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit ($8.99 at most stores.) Your $3 coupon knocks this down to $5.99. Now, get the LARGEST Swiffer refill you can find, as the coupon does not specify a size or quantity for your refill. (I like the 36-count Swiffer wet floor wipes, which usually sells for $14! It comes in a large cardboard "case" as opposed to the plastic tubs, and I've only seen this size at Target.) Pay $5.99 for the Swiffer AND the wipes -- that's cheaper than buying the wipes alone.

If you didn't get the Target insert this weekend, there's a $2 Target coupon for the Swiffer starter kit in 5/16 SS, but it expires TODAY!

And, if you want a second Swiffer refill, many people are buying one to use on this rebate deal too - buy $20 worth of refills and get $10 back.

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Back (again!) is the Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-a-Clean sprayer deal. This time, the spray cleaner is on sale for $8.74. Use the $5 manufacturer coupon from 6/13 SS and stack it with this $3 Target store coupon. $8 in coupon value on a $8.74 sprayer = .74 Scrubbing Bubbles!

Some readers are also reporting that the Extend-A-Clean is still on sale for $6.99, as it was last week! If so, it will be FREE with overage -- just make sure to hand the cashier the store coupon LAST so the overage is applied correctly... and have another item on the belt worth at least $1.01 to "eat up" that overage. :)

Ray-O-Vac batteries are $1 in Target's Dollar Spot. $1 printable. 'Nuff said.

Ready for some travel-sized freebies? Any time a coupon says it's good on ANY size of a product, use it on the travel size. With many travel sizes under $1, a $1 coupon makes them FREE! (Yes, it is Target's policy to accept these and adjust down to .97 or whatever the exact price is.) So, buy travel sizes of the following...

Axe deodorant - .97. Use printable.

Dove hair spray - .97. Use printable.

Vaseline Aloe Fresh Lotion - .97. Use $1 printable.

Shout stain wipes - .97. Use printable

Some editions of the 5/16 RP contained a Target store coupon for $1 off any Bounty paper towels. Single rolls of Bounty Basic sell for .99 at most Targets! Get a roll free (through 7/31!)

Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. They are Target store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with. Load coupons here. You can also print these offers by going to www.target.com/save and entering your phone number.

SuperTarget meat deals:

  • Hormel Always-Tender St. Louis Style Ribs are $1.49/lb.
  • 2.5lb. bags of Market Pantry frozen boneless, skinless chicken breass are $5 - that's $2/lb.

SuperTarget produce deals:

  • Sweet corn is 6 ears for $1 -- that's .17 an ear

Remember too that you get .5 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use!

Drugstore Deals

Heading to Walgreens...

Oh Walgreens, you just keep giving free things away, week after week! (And we love it!) This week is no exception. The following items are all FREE after Register Rewards (meaning, you pay and get your money right back in the form of a Catalina coupon for your next Walgreens trip. Remember that you cannot "roll" your RRs on the same products or product families, or the register won't generate another RR.

3-packs of Blistex Fruit Smoothies Lip Care are $2.99 with $2.99 back in RRS - FREE!

Flexitol Blistop is a foot blister preventer. It's $5 with $5 back in RRS - also FREE!

And, in keeping with the "feet" theme, Airplus Ultra Moisturizing Socks For Her (Hey, I don't make this stuff up -- they're aloe-infused socks for tired feet) are $3 with $3 back in RRs. Also FREE! (THIS one has not been printing RRs as of Sunday, 6/27 - hopefully it'll be fixed soon.)

Want more free stuff? (Of COURSE you do -- that's why you're here!)

Reach Floss and Reach Crystal Clean toothbrushes are free AGAIN. We just saw this deal a few weeks ago, and, as with so many deals, it keeps coming around again, and again, and again!

The deal is this. Reach floss or Crystal Clean toothbrushes are .99 each, limit 3, with the store coupon in the Walgreens ad. Stack this with any of these $1 coupons: 5/16 RP, 3/7 RP, 1/3 RP, 10/18/09 RP, and/or 10/4/09 RP (yes, they're all current, though a couple expire soon!) Your brushes and flosses are FREE!

And ANOTHER freebie! Dentyne gum is on sale 3-for-$1.98. Buy 3. Use the $1 coupon from 6/13 SS, and stack it with the .99 Walgreens coupon for Dentyne you'll find in the store (either a tearpad in the aisle, or in the monthly June coupon book found on the wire rack at the front of the store.) The coupon takes another .99 off. With a total of $1.99 coming off your 3-for-$1.98 Dentynes... they're FREE! (Make sure you give the cashier the store coupon LAST for it to ring correctly.

If you have additional $1 Dentyne coupons, it's really to your advantage to split them up into separate transactions and do one round of 3 packs for each $1 manufacturer coupon you have. Maximum gum, minimal money!

Guilty pleasure time: In addition to free gum, I love cheap Twizzlers. This week, they're on sale 2 for $3, with $2 back in RRs when you buy 2! Love that - only .50 a bag! Get a third bag for .50 by using the $1-off-3 Twizzlers coupon from 6/27 SS. Buy 3, pay $3.50 and get $2 back - paying $1.50 for 3, or again, .50 a bag (but now you got an EXTRA bag!)

There are several "Buy $X, get $X in Register Rewards" deals running right now at Walgreens. Some are looking better than others this week..! The "Buy $15, get $3" deal isn't terribly great, though if you do have the "Score More Savings" coupon book from Jewel, there;s a.75 coupon inside it for the Ritz crackers. And, none of these are sending you home with FREE product, though some will get you cheap products :)

So, let's tackle the "Buy $25, get $10 in RRs" first. Buying $25 worth of the following items (pre-coupon) will generate a $10 RR. Here are your products and matchups:

The "Really, you didn't get enough free Windex at Dominick's last month?" scenario

Buy 4 Windex at $2.50 each.

Use two $1 printables and one $1 insert coupon.

Pay $7 and get $5 back! 4 bottles for $2 is .50 each.

If you have a $1 coupon for your 4th bottle, pay $6 and get $5 back - that's .25 a bottle.

_____________________________________

A "After the past two weeks' toilet bowl cleaner deals, there's no excuse for not having a sparkling bowl" deal

Print four "Buy Toilet Gel, get Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush free" coupons (remember, the Fresh Brush is NOT part of the ECB deal, but you'll get 4 free here as a bonus)
Use as many $1 toilet gel coupons as you have

With 1 coupon, pay $9 and get $5 back - get 4 toilet cleaners and 4 Fresh Brushes for $4, or .50 each.

If you're a multiple-inserts person, with 4 $1 coupons, pay $6 and get $5 back - $1 for EIGHT cleaning products is about .13 each!
_____________________________________

Remember, you can only do ONE of these deals per card as the entire "Spend $10, get $5 ECBs" deal is limit ONE per card.

CVS is also running a similar deal to Walgreen's Schick/Playtex/Edge deal, but this one's a "Spend $20, get $10."

You can use the same matchups as Walgreens' deal -- the Playtex is on sale at CVS for $5.29, so an all-Playtex deal would have you using:

- $2.50 off 2 Gentle Glide - 6/27 SS
- $1 off Sport - 6/27 SS
- $1 off Gentle Glide - April, June All You

Buy 4, pay $16.66 after coupons and get $10 back - $6.66 for 4 boxes is $1.67 each, so this deal's better at CVS if you need Playtex.

Beverage deals: 24-packs of Gold Emblem bottled water are $1.98, limit 2. Dean's milk is $2.69 a gallon, with $1 back in ECBs, limit 2.

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Pure & Natural or Pure & Simple PowerBars are on sale for .99 on a month-long June ECB special. Buy one and get .99 back in Extra Care Bucks (limit 3 THROUGH JUNE 30.) (This deal, which has been running all month, is finally in the ad this week. It says it's limit 2. Unless they've changed it from last week (I did it Friday, 6/18) it's actually limit 3.

CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the price scanner in the store -- it prints bonus coupons for you!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won't have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)

And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today's Deals of the Week! We're all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you... to YOU!

It's a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month -- typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you've recouped the cost of the magazine, and you're on your way to even bigger savings.)

I'm guessing you already checked w/them. Target is usually very good about turning stuff left in carts into CS. Even got my DS toddler sunglasses back from them the next time we went in.

No free gum at Walgreen's

Am I the only one who couldn't get free gum at Walgreen's? Two Walgreens same thing...I'll spare you the horrific details at the West Dundee store. The bottom line is I was told at both Walgreen's as soon as they saw the gum that they are ringing their IVC coupon first and adjusting the $1.00 coupons down to .33 each since that is what the gum actually costs. One of the milder statements "Walgreen's has figured you all out and we aren't going to be giving you money anymore". Sigh...said everyone was talked to about it today. Did anyone get gum today/tonight?

"Walgreen's has figured you

"Walgreen's has figured you all out and we aren't going to be giving you money anymore".

I heard a similar comment from a Walgreen's manager in Aurora. Said they found a website instructing people on how they can "make money" off of them.

Nonsense

How are "we" making money off Walgreen's?? It's funny, I would think Walgreen's would welcome the business to there store, seeing as I never set foot inside a Walgreen's before I knew how to coupon. I am fine about walking away from any deal and most couponer's I know are too. So, my thinking is, if Walgreen's "wants to make money" they should stop making such ludicrous statements! (I hope Walgreen's read this!!)

Worked fine...

I purchased other items so that it didn't go under tax. But did it at 2 different Walgreens (Mundelein and Wauconda) and both were fine. Purchase 3 gums only (don't usually do multiple trans). One of the Wauconda managers has told me they CAN'T adjust the coupons down that it would be "coupon fraud" for them to do that :-) so if they brought that up to me... boy that would be interesting :-0 I usually just go with the flow and the coupon karma comes back around :-) like yesterday I walked into the Mundelein Wags to get the gum and was asked to do a 5 min. survey on skin products and was given a $20. WAGs gift card! SWEEEEEEET!

Nice!

How cool - do they know how far you can stretch that $20? LOL

I was able to get the gum,

I was able to get the gum, but only used one $1/1 coupon along with the Walgreen's coupon. They didn't adjust down the $1 coupon.

OMG...

yes, I thought that is what you were saying, but you were trying to do 3 at one time... eeek. Yes. I can see where they would adjust down. Beep beep and more beep. :-) and now you can get MORE free gum with your extra coupons!

I did the same as you 3 gums

I did the same as you 3 gums - 1 $1 mfr Q - $1 W Q. I didn't even try to use 3 mfr coupons.

Funny...I had the same problem

at the Channahon Walgreen's. Sorry it happened to you. I thought it was just because I'm fairly new at this. I am so tired of the bad attitude of one particular employee (not to mention her incredibly annoying habit of popping her gum!). I was going to talk to the manager but figured I'll just do my shopping at the Shorewood store from now on. At least they smile there ;) I didn't realize she had adjusted down the coupon to .33 until I got home. Can they really do that even though the coupon says $1 off one pack of gum - and you're buying three?

better yet, the one at Caton

better yet, the one at Caton Farm/59 always has sooo much more product than Shorewood, and there's a woman in cosmetics that is so super nice. One day she told the woman in front of me to check out my cart to see how to get things for free! I've had a couple problems in Shorewood in the past.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing the info. I'll be sure to go check that one out. It seems the ladies at the cosmetics counters are always the nicest/easiest to deal with. Thanks again!

Must be your wags

It must be your Wags, I did the deal at two different Wags in Indiana and had no problem at all, both stores took the coupons at face value.

Interesting

I was at the West Dundee Wags today, and got some Reach toothbrushes with the same scenario..no issues at all. Of course, I chose Norma in favor of Ms K. I had to do a return with her though, and thank god I hadn't used any coupons on the item (knee brace) cause she looked like she was about to tear someone apart. No sign of her sweater though. But the glare is the same as usual.

Oh she did...me

Editing myself for a change :) Suffice it to say she wasn't pleasant as usual and I didn't get my gum.

Jewel - South Elgin

For anyone in the Jewel South Elgin area. They have fruit by the foot and stickers on clearance for $.47 ea. All the way in the back of the store by the toothpaste in a shopping basket. It was a great deal even without the coupons that I forgot to bring with. I also got Cottonelle Fresh wipes (tub) for $1.39 B1G1F. I think they had a wrong sign up because after I checked out I was going to go back and get more but they took the sign down.

NY Style Bagel Chips printable

So, it appears as though you can download the coupon and print it up to 6 times... the only problem is that the numbers and barcodes are identical. It looks as if I photocopied this rather than printing it from the website 6 times. Oh and FYI, if you don't pay attention and shrink them before you print they are HUGE... takes up almost a whole sheet of paper. Any advice on whether I should try using more than one?

i used 2 of those coupons

today at jewel with no problems (i DID shrink them, and made one smaller than the other, though, so they really did look like totally different coupons). also, some of the packages at my jewel had $1.00 off of 2 bagel chips, if you are worried you can always look for those and use them (not as great of a deal, but still pretty good, i think)

Scrubbing Bubbles coupons??

Scrubbing Bubbles coupons?? OK, I'm all excited to do this deal...but on the 1st link I couldn't find the coupon for the free Fresh Brush. All I saw was a coupon for The Shower Kit...the 2nd link was OK - got those 2 coupons. Any ideas? Should I enter a different zip code?

Additional coupon for the CVS Scrubbing Bubbles!!

Check your "All You" July magazine...there is a $2 off ANY 2 scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaners!!! Yippy!!!

All You July

Would you by chance know what page, I picked up two copies today at Walmart and can't find the scrubbing bubbles coupon.

Might not be in there

Check the index of coupons at the front of the mag. Sometime the subscription version has different coupons that the Walmart store issue.

target and cvs

both had $2.00 off 2 scrubbing bupples peelies (peel it off the maximun shower cleaner or whatever it is--the peelie is bright orange) as well!!!

Meijer - Ortega products

Jill, you mentioned to print the coupons and buy 2. Don't you mean to buy 4 in one transaction, since the Meijer coupon is $1 off 4 products?

zip for SB fresh brush

Anyone still finding the printable on coupons.com for the fresh brush? What zip code? I have 2 that I printed a while back, but they are Target store qs. :(

Ad match

Anyone ever have luck doing an ad match like that at Target? They told me they don't do specials like those. I also tried the M&Ms since my CVS was out, but they put it in as .45 each so when I used the bogo I still paid .45 for two of the packs...didn't realize it until I left. :(

can still do it

I guess I can take my CVS ad to Target with my Target store qs. Yay! I can still get my SB.

CVS scrubbing bubbles

Will the "Buy Toilet Gel, get Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush free" coupon and the $1 toilet gel coupon work since they are both Manufacturer coupons? I'm still new at this, but I thought you could only use 1 manufacturer coupon per item? Thanks!

JUST GIVE THEM THE @1.00 OFF

JUST GIVE THEM THE @1.00 OFF COUPONS FIRST, THAN THE FREEBIE COUPONS SECOND, AND OF COURSE THE TARGET COUPONS LAST. iF YOU DO THIS EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU GET SOME MUCH FREE IT IS UNREAL.

Yes

You are only using one per item. The "Buy Toilet Gel, Get Fresh Brush" applies to the Fresh Brush.

The $1 coupon applies to the toilet gel. (The toilet gel is a qualifying product for the first coupon, but the coupon actually applies to the brush.)

Thank you!

I understand it now :) Thank you!

Target insert?

nevermind...I reread the Target info listed about...SOME editions received it....:( not me

FYI

Just so you know (I read your original post) - the Target Qs are not in the weekly Target Ad - they were a separate 2-page 'book' in the bag with the other stuff! It was big - 12" x 12" maybe.

Aveeno Fig & Shea

Anyone find the Fig & Shea butter body wash in the Joliet area? Is it on an endcap or with the other body wash?

They have been totally out

They have been totally out for 2 weeks. I got the last 2 bottles in Shorewood and 2 other bottles in Joliet byu Louis Joliet Mall.

Smuckers at Jewel in Wheaton

"Smuckers ice cream toppings are on sale for $1.50 each. (5/16 RP also has a $1-off-2 coupon.)"

I have never been more aggravated in my life. I know how to properly use coupons so I know that using the $1.50 off 2 toppings coupon with the buy 3, get 4th free coupon was a proper way to use the coupons. I came up with 4 Smuckers and the two coupons, the cashier said I could use one or the other coupon. I explained how the $1.50 was off the first 2 and the coupon was for the 4th one to be free. She called the service desk and they told me I couldn't use both coupons. I then told her to take it off my order while she huffed and threw my other coupons in the scanner. She flicked things and then when I was ready to leave, she smiled and told me to have a nice day (like that took away the fit she had and made it all okay). I then went to the service desk where they denied me again, but then quickly said they would do it this time while rolling eyes. I said to forget about it, but now I am going to corporate over this. I have had past problems with this same person and I am going to boycott this Jewel again like I did before. I feel like a coupon criminal even though I was using my coupons properly, I have been doing this for long enough to know that I can use both coupons. And to top it off, she didn't scan one of my Pampers coupons for the wipes. I don't usually go on here and complain, but I wanted to warn everyone that they might have resistance to using both coupons.

Just talking about this cust serv

For the first time ever at the Algon Jewel I had a problem with the self checker and Q's. She didn't want to take the Q off the B1G1F weber prod only the one that I was paying for. Her supervisor was there and she did consult her and the super explained that the free item was an auto store disct and the store would get reimbursed from the coupon man. I had to go through all my groceries and prove I had purchased each item because they would beep. Her super explained that she would have to put them in man. I think she norm works at the CrysLk Jewel...(Lost) my Qs when with the kids once at the self check???

I'm with you

There is one person at my Jewel who makes me feel like a criminal for using qs. She makes me feel like I'm stealing. I use qs because we just had a baby and my husband just lost his job. Although if I had known about super couponing before I would have done it. However, I'm just trying to be a smart shopper and she acts like I'm trying to get an unemployment check while holding 3 jobs or something. She's always working the self check out during the time I can go to the store. I go to self checkout to avoid doing multiple transactions in a regular line. I'm trying to be nice, but she is so dreadful I'm about to stop going to self checkout.

I'm with you too...

I've been supercouponing for years now, and very well know how to do it correctly. I went to the Algonquin Jewel Today, and had a cashier freak out because I tried to use one coupon on cereal, and another one on produce. I didn't quite get what the big deal was...I mean, they see that all the time. Especially in Algonquin. But not her, I guess. She started yelling to the other cashiers how I was committing fraud, and then refused to accept them. She told me "we don't need your kind of people here." I haven't been so furious in a long time. It happened not too long ago in West Dundee too..There is a younger woman who works there, and she went to ask her manager if I could use both a store coupon, and a manufacturer coupon for the TGIF frozen meals...Basically, the deal was that you got 2 meals very close to free, and she just kept yelling to her manager "this just can't be right!" and "You're gonna let her walk out of here!" etc...It got pretty nasty. I actually didn't say one word the whole time, but I emailed corporate when I got home. Still waiting for a response....*Sigh* I would have picked another cashier, but unfortunately for me, only one lane was open.

Got a call this morning

I got a call this morning from the store manager at Jewel, and he was very apologetic, and wanted more info on what happened...I didn't know the name of my cashier since she had turned her name tag around. While I was there, their system froze, and they had to pull a whole bunch of receipts from the CS register, so her name wasn't on there either. I told him about her comments, and about how she "knew her stuff," when in fact she was incorrect on the usage. Anyhow, he promised to talk to the staff, and get back to me again later....I'll leave it at that. I'm sick and tired of arguing with people. On a good note though, all my life I've been a push-over. Couponing drastically changed that. I can actually take a stand now. Grocery-shopping used to be simple, easy, and expensive. Now it's cheap, exhausting, and a full-blown war, but totally worth it.

We could trade lists

I never have a problem at Jewel, you never have a problem at our Wags...hmmm...lol

Take Names, Call Corporate

In this economy, the store employees are lucky to have jobs. Customers should not be made to feel like criminals for using the coupons that the grocery and food industry flood us with every day. My advice would be to take names and call corporate with your experience. Unfortunately, some store employees are waging their own odd "private war" against coupons where they see themselves as store heroes.

Thank you for sharing your experiences

I appreciate the two of you for sharing your experiences, unfortunately, this won't be our last time of having to deal with cashiers not educated on proper coupon use. The cashier wouldn't let me use the Smuckers coupons, but let me use the Stayfree BOGO with the $2 off Stayfree that expires on June 30th. I guess she didn't understand that it was basically the same thing. I also tried to explain to the lady at the service desk that you can use coupons for BOGO and $1 off the item you are buying, and that this is the same kind of thing. I tried emailing when I had the problem with this same lady about one year ago and I never got any response from the store. This time I actually called the 1-800 number and spoke to a representative, you might want to try the same if you don't hear anything soon. I'm waking up this morning still blown away with the way I was treated at Jewel. I'm so glad that I went to CVS first and had the most wonderful experience ever. The manager at Geneva Rd, Wheaton CVS named Judy is always helpful, but was extra helpful yesterday and bent over backwards to help. I think we mostly have good experiences, but these bad experiences can certainly make you feel bad.

Great response from one of the mgrs at the store

I got a call from one of the managers this morning, she actually remembers me and felt bad especially since I am a frequent shopper. She is taking care of me and they will be having a talk with the people involved. She said she was sick when she heard what happened. There are mostly great people working there and they outweigh the bad from this experience.

ON A HAPPY NOTE

i just got back from jewel (in northwest indiana) where i had a great coupon experience! the cashier was friendly (im sure she didnt WANT me to have a billion coupons in her line). when i was done checking out, she even said "wow, how did you do that??" i find that cashiers appreciate it if you give them the coupons beforehand so they can check all the coupons before baggint them. i sometimes even warn them that i have tons of coupons and ask them if they mind me coming to their lane.
its nice to know that good expereinces ARE happening some places, considering all of the nightmare stories you hear. I hope that, for every bad experience you have you have tons of great ones!

I have to go that way

I have to go that way tomorrow.Did that CVS by any chance have pretzel M&Ms?

Yes, they did have Pretzel M&M's

When I left, there were Pretzel M&M's last night at about 7 p.m.. I bought some, but there were some left still.

Thanks, but no luck, I went

Thanks, but no luck, I went this morning, all gone.
