Easy Slow Cooker Recipe

Chicken Dumplings!
Perfect for comfort food for fall weather!
2 Raw Chicken Breast
1 Finely chopped onion
2 cans cream of chicken
2 tbs butter
Throw all these ingredients in your slow cooker and fill with just enough water to cover. Cook on high for 4 hours, then shred chicken with fork. Add 1 can refrigerated biscuits sliced in quarters. Make sure biscuits are covered in sauce. Cook for 1 more hour on low. Easy peasy!

giveaway... meal idea

Extra zucchini??? slice it real thin, layer in 13x9 pan with prepared taco meat and cheddar cheese - make 3 layers at least. mix up a box of cornbread mix and pour over the top.
Bake according to cornbread directions. My kids call this taco bake and love it. they don't mind the zucchini in it as they love the other ingredients. you can shred a cup of zucchini
into the taco meat while cooking as well and they'll never know it.

cook and freeze

always cook a little extra and freeze in air tight zip lock baggies---perfect for late evenings or a quick dinner.

I could use some simplification...

With 2 year old twins, life is never simple!

leftover spaghetti

I don't know if anyone else does thisbut I always make way to much spaghetti. So I use the leftovers add a little more sauce and a whole bunch of different veggies. I put it in a 9x13 and top it with mozzarella cheese and bake for 25 min at 400.

Easy chinese sauce

I have an easy recipe that I use on all my Chinese food. Only 3 ingredients and so simple.
Equal parts of Soy Sauce, Hoisen Sauce and Water. For those of you who like a little spice, simply add a bit of red chili paste. Mix all ingredients together and add to cooked vegetables and/or meat. I use this sauce when I make chicken Lo Mein and use whole wheat noodles (free of course) and my kids ages (4 and under) gobble it up. Minus the chili paste of course. :)

Real Simple Giveaway

I've always shopped at Jewel (even as a little girl with my mom). It's one of my favorite grocery stores. Who couldn't use some Real Simple ideas to help organize their lives?! Thanks for all you do Jill!

Not sure this falls under either catagory...

But my friend gave me a great idea, I have this world map that I kept meaning to hang... and have never gotten around to it, well she had a map of the US and put it under a clear table cloth on her table (just got clear material from JoAnn's) and presto, I did that with my world map, under clear that we can chat about while eating dinner :-) my table needed to be covered up too! I write on it with dry erase marker to show the kids where the hurricane was hitting and everything that we can think of. It is really great for all of us.

party idea...

So a month or two ago I was feeling that need for a girls night out.. BUT being on a budget, I decided to have a girl's night IN. I made cute invitations and the whole shebang. I decided to call it "Come wine and whine with us" and asked everybody to bring over their favorite inexpensive bottle of wine, or beverage of choice. And we would all get together laugh, cry, chat, etc. It's actually turned into a monthly thing! :-) Best idea ever!

ANOTHER IDEA -

For the party, I made snacks that were great with wine.... Things with cheese, chocolate etc. My BEST party snack tip would be chocolate covered strawberries. I buy the almond bark, and melt the whole thing over a double boiler. Then I dip 2 cartons of strawberries in them and let them sit to harden. Once I'm done with that, I melt white chocolate and put it in a zip-lock bag, cut the tip, and drizzle it over them. They look JUST like (and taste just like) they came from an expensive candy store! EVERYBODY loved them!

Hope you like my suggestions and try them out! I promise you'll have a good time! :-)

Amazing!

This is so much fun!

You can save a lot!

I never really shopped at Jewel much. A couple of weeks ago I went there and spent $10.76 and got 3 packages of chicken, 6 boxes of cereal, 3 bags of marshmallows and 1 roll of paper towels. I was so excited. Thanks Jill you inspire me! By the way, my daughter said"Mom you can do better. Jill would have gotten this for free." She has viewed your DVD 3 times! :}

Give away fun!

Gotta love this one...two great items....

Real Siimple and coupon book give away

I have been a Jewel shopper ever since my mom would send me to the store with a few dollars in my pocket and a list that was longer than the money supply. I felt like I was always having to put things back. Maybe if I had couponed in those days I would have been able to bring home all the items on the list instead of trying to think which one we could live without.

Please pick me!

I would love these items! Thanks

Hope I win!

if your child takes a lunch to school, make it (or better yet, have them make it) the night before. Worried about soggy PB&J? Just put PB on both slices of bread and put the jelly in between. The PB keeps the jelly from seeping into the bread. No more scrambling to make lunches in the morning!

Love it!

You always have greaty giveaways-- I love Jewel Osco and do the majority of my grocery shopping there--
the convenience and great prices make saving money on groceries "real simple" ;)

I would love to simplify my life and saving money in the process is sooooooooo worth it.!!! :)

Thanks Jill!!

Those $1 fish packets at Jewel...

the teen daughter loves them. We eat them at least once a week. They are simple and quick to prepare - reasonably priced too. She will make me that for dinner and have it ready for me when I get home from work. A can veggies and a simple side like rice or pasta rounds the meal nicely.

She also likes making "helper" boxed meals, spaghetti, and mac and cheese.

I cannot stress enough the importance of teaching kids how to cook for thenselves/the family!

first timer too

Coupons

Yes, I love coupons. I will love to get the book for my favorite supermarket!

Coupons!

I'm a man which I butt-u-me is odd for the site but you all have me hooked & I'm spreading the word! Once I heard U.S. consumers simply toss 50 Billion in coupons each year I thought immediately NOT ME & made a change!!
Thanks one & all!

easy recipe

1 box mac and cheese, 1 can corn, 1# taco meat...cook separately, mix all ingredients together, and enjoy

Simplify at home tip

I have my 2 boys ages 13 & 15 hrs old do many chores, so I have time to search and clip coupons, send manufacturers email comments and this gives me free time for pleasure reading of fiction and self help books. They are rewarded with thank yous and being driven places and learning responsibility along with hugs and kisses from Mom and Dad. My husband and I work full time plus Overtime so the boys help around the house allows us personal time and more family time when we are not working.

Have a great Week to all

Love your site, Jewel & Real Simple, this is great :)

Time saving tip

When I buy ground beef, I cook it up with onions & green peppers and freeze it. Then when I'm running late, it's easy to add to sloppy joes, spaghetti sauce, or taco seasonings for a really quick meal!

contest

Dear Jill, of course I would LOVE to win this prize. However, even if I don't, here are my tips for simplicity. First, don't purchase anything that you don't need. Second, if you like herbs like parsley or cilantro you can freeze them with some water in an ice cube tray and throw the cubes in your soups etc for months to come.

I am new to your website;

Jewel/Real Simple Giveaway

Great giveaway! Thank you! And thank you for your tips and time invested in helping us!

Real Simple

As another reader commented, I too lay out my children's clothes for school the night before. It helps to get them dressed quicker in the morning and makes getting ready for school a little smoother.

GREAT PRIZE!

Who couldn't use a little simplifying in the kitchen?

Here's a simple and quick meal idea if you or your kids like Mexican cuisine.

Take 4 cups of chopped up peppers (yellow, orange and red) and sautee them
in 1/2 cup olive oil with a tsp of butter until they are slightly carmelized. Add 1/2 cup of fresh spinach if desired. Cook five minutes. Sprinkle in several tsps of oregeno, pepper and garlic salt to taste. Add 4 cups of cooked rice (with a little chicken bouillion for flavor). Add a 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese along with 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing. Simmer with lid for 5 minutes.

Spoon onto a warm whole wheat tortilla with a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. Fold. Cut in half and serve with sour cream, guacamole or salsa if desired. The spinach and peppers are a great source of protein and vitamin C.

*BONUS: You can prepare peppers and rice ahead of time and freeze. Just heat up
for a five minute meal! Great for after school or dinnertime.

Jewel Fresh for Fall giveaway

This is an awesome prize! I am always looking for ways to dress up chicken...so far the fav is to fry it coated in Bisquick with some spices & stuff.
