Deals of the Week for September 12, 2011

Hello, Super-Couponers! I hope everyone had a good Patriot Day weekend. We spent our weekend camping with the kids, enjoying a family dinner at Ed Debevic's on Saturday night (one of our kids' favorite downtown destinations!) and attending a 9/11 memorial event on Sunday to benefit Honor Flight. It was definitely a time for reflection on many levels, and there are so many things that we as a family are thankful for.

This week, I've got a great blog giveaway featuring a $250 American Express gift card, courtesy of LG Electronics USA's Ultimate Jellybean Count! Head over to the link if you'd like to enter.

A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on Illinois stores, the Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you're shopping at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger store, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick's, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

Unless otherwise noted, GROCERY store deals run through WEDNESDAY of this week,
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday
.

(Also, if you're new, you may not have some of the coupon books that I refer to for some deals. Some coupon books can be found at the grocery store during seasonal promotions -- look for them, as I'll reference them when applicable. And, throughout the year, companies issue free coupon books that you can request to be mailed to you -- register for them if you'd like, as I'll reference them in future weeks' deals.

Current home-delivery subscription deals on the Chicago Tribune: Code OCNP: .38/week Sunday Delivery. Code X277 or X542: .50/week Sunday Delivery or $1/week W, TH, F, Sun delivery. Call 800-311-8500 or visit www.chicagotribune.com.

"Deals of the Week" is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the "best," highest-value coupons.)

This week's newspaper (9/11/11) contained a coupon insert booklet with over $100 worth of store coupons for Jewel-Osco. If you missed seeing this on Sunday, pull it out of your newspaper before it hits the recycle bin..!

Here are your best deals this week with the $100 coupon book (going in the order that they appear in the book...)

- 5lb. bags of Value Wise Russet Potatoes are .99 with the $1.50 coupon from the book.

- Tide Laundry Detergent (50oz. liquid, 56oz. powder) is $4.99 with the $3 coupon from the book. Stack this with the .50 Liquid Tide coupon from 8/28 PG and pay $4.49, or go for the much BETTER deal by stacking the $2 Powder Tide coupon from 9/11 SS2. With this, you'll pay $2.99 for your Tide! (If you'd prefer Gain, which is ridiculously cheap this week, keep reading when you hit the Walgreens deals...)

- 3lb. bags of Apples are $2.49 with the $1 coupon from the book.

- Jack's Pizzas are 5-for-$10 with the $5 coupon from the book. Stack this with the $1 Jack's coupon from 9/11 RP and pay $9 for 5, or $1.80 each.

- Old Orchard 100% Apple Juice or Healthy Balance (64oz.) is $1.29 with the .40 coupon from the book.

- Seattle's Best Coffee (12oz.) is $5.99 with the $2 coupon from the book. Stack this with the $1.50 coupon from 8/14 SS. You'll pay $4.49. (There are also $1 coupons in the August and September issues of All You, or use a $1 printable.)

- Olay Definity, Pro-X, Regenerist, or Total Effects has a $4 store coupon. There's a $3 Regenerist moisturizer coupon in the 8/14 RP. Regenerist moisturizer runs around $20-$25 depending on regular price, so this could knock it to $13-$18. The 8/14 RP also has a "Buy Regenerist, get Olay Body Wash free" coupon to use here if you're buying Olay. Don't forget that this is the LAST week to take advantage of the "Spend $50, get $20" Olay rebate running on their site.

As the Jewel store coupons are one per transaction, you will need to split these into separate transactions if you plan to buy multiples to take advantage of the rebate. But here's a possible scenario: Over two transactions, buy a Regenerist moisturizer and an Olay Body Wash. If your store has these priced at $25, you'd pay $18 out of pocket for each transaction ($36) then submit receipts for a $20 rebate. That would drop this to $16, or $8 each - good prices for Regenerist.

- Equaline vitamins are Buy One Get One Free with the coupon from the store ad.

Speed Stick and Lady Speed Stick deodorants are on sale for $2.99, Buy One Get One Free. Buy two and use the Buy One Get One Free coupon from 9/11 SS2. You'll pay... NOTHING... and get TWO FREE!

Mini Super-Couponing lesson: Why does this work? When you use a B1G1F coupon during a B1G1F sale, you will buy none and get two free. Here's why... and remember, it's important to think of your coupons AS cash. If you walk into the store and give them $2.99 in cash, how many deodorants will that pay for? Two -- because the store is selling you two for $2.99. Now, look at your B1G1F coupon. What is its value? Up to $3.99. This coupon pays the price of the first deodorant with its value ($2.99) and the second is free with the store's sale. You WILL pay tax on the pre-coupon price, as always... but after coupon, both items will be free.

It's important to note too that you do not get coupon overage with a free or B1G1F coupon when the value is "up to $3.99." Legally, the cashier must enter the price of the first item, which in this case is $2.99. The store's B1G1F sale makes the second item FREE. If you like learning coupon tips like these, check out my Super-Couponing workshops or DVDs!

Reach Dental Floss (55yard) is on sale for $1. Use the $1 coupon from 4/17 SS and it's FREE! If you need more floss, there are .50 coupons in the 7/31 SS and 1/9 SS2.

Green Giant Frozen Vegetables (7-10oz., boxed) are on sale for $1. Use an .80-off-4 coupon (printable, printable) and pay $3.20 for four, or .80 each.

Wonderful Pistachios (8oz.) are on sale for $2.99. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 6/26 SS. You'll pay $4.98 for two, or $2.49 each!

Essential Everyday Toaster Pastries (6ct.) are $1.69 (regular price at most Jewel locations.) Use the $1 off coupon in the new Jewel Fresh For Fall coupon book and pay .69! Note that these coupons are limit 1 per transaction.

"Buy 10, Save $5" Instant-Savings Sale!

Buying any 10 of the items featured in the ad will generate $5 in instant savings PLUS 25 bonus Box Tops for Education! Prices shown are after the Buy 10 discount. You must buy 10 to receive prices shown.

"No Coupon Needed" Deals:

Jewel 8ct. Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns are $1.

Jewel Canned Black Beans, Tomatoes, or Tomato Sauce (14.5-15oz.) are .50 each - good price

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Jewel-Osco is running a gift-card promotion. Buy $100 worth of selected gift cards (no Jewel-Osco cards, Amex, or Mastercard) and receive a $10 Catalina for a future grocery purchase! (Through 9/17.)

Jewel-Osco information:

Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? Jewel regularly sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they're store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!

Jewel meat deals:

  • Hormel Always Tender pork country style ribs are $1.99/lb. Use this $1 printable and pay even less! (Another printable here...)
  • Perdue Chicken Wings are $1.99/lb.
  • Perdue Ground Chicken or Turkey Burgers (16oz.) are $3.99, B1G1F - that's about $2/lb.
  • Hormel Always Tender Pork Chops are $2.79/lb. and Hormel Always Tender Pork Spare Ribs are $2.49/lb. Use this $1 printable and pay even less! (Another printable here...)

Jewel seafood deals:

  • Whole fresh catfish are $3.99/lb.

Jewel produce deals:

  • Bartlett pears are .99/lb.
  • Roma tomatoes are $1.29/lb.
  • Broccoli crowns or cauliflower are $1.49/lb.
  • Yellow flesh nectarines or peaches are $1.99/lb.
  • Cantaloupes are $2.99, Buy One Get One Free - about $1.50 each

(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is -- beef, pork, poultry) it's a buy in my book, because $2 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good "buy" benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)

Are you a Meijer Mperks member? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They're attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you'd like to load to your account. Then, when you're at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

Meijer meat deals:

  • Fresh Grade A chicken drumsticks and thighs are .99/lb.
  • Cook's shank portion ham is $1.49/lb.
  • Fresh pork spareribs are $1.99/lb.

Meijer seafood deals:

  • 16oz. bags of Meijer Tilapia fillets (frozen) are $3.99

Meijer produce deals:

  • Many varieties of squash are .49/lb.
  • 5lb bags of yellow flesh potatoes or yellow flesh red potatoes are $2.50 - that's .50/lb.

  • Asparagus or white asparagus are $1.99/lb.
  • Limes are 12-for-$1 - that's about .08 each, and that's CRAZY CHEAP!

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you're in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you're reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store... Confusing? Yes.

AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven't been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

The back page of the Hilander ad shows 70% off patio furniture and accessories. They're showing deck furniture, a glider, and a pop-up screen house. I mention the pop-up screen house because we just used ours for the first time camping this past weekend. It was purchased last year on clearance around this time, and it is GREAT! If you're looking for things like these, this is a great time of year to buy them as summer is ending.

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Hilander is running a "Buy 4, Save $4" instant-savings sale on P&G products! Buying 4 will generate $4 in instant savings.

The majority of the coupons you'll need for this deal are in the 8/28 PG. Not all of these items are super-hot deals this week, but this is your best bet:

Old Spice and Secret Deodorant are .99 each when purchased in quantities of 4 (mix and match with P&G items in ad.) Buy two and use the $1-off-2 from the 8/28 PG. You'll pay .98 for TWO, or .49 each!

Readers outside Illinois will want to check with their local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated stores to determine how they handle coupon doubling.

Rachel over at Mashup Mom made an excellent point about this week's Walgreens flyer too. It seems that fairly often, some shoppers are told that they cannot stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons in the monthly IVC coupon books, found on the wire racks near the door at Walgreens. If yours is one of them, you might want to keep the front page of this week's flyer in your coupon wallet. It clearly shows the $1 monthly IVC coupon being stacked with the $1 coupon from today's paper to get to the $3 price... how could a store employee argue with that? (And isn't it nice when the Wags ad does its own matchups for you?)

Gain detergents are involved in some wild double-dip deals this week at Walgreens! You may remember the Catalina that began in August - get $3 back when you buy 3 Gain products, one of which is laundry detergent.

Well, at the time of this writing, instead of one $3 Catalina printing, TWO are printing. This could change at ANY time, so if you're not a risk-taker, this one might not be for you. Then again, the deals are pretty good, even if the bonus $3 stops at some point. So here we go...

Gain 24-32-load laundry detergents, powder and liquid, are on sale for $5. Gain dish detergents (11oz.) are $1.99.

Easy detergent deal:
Buy one Gain powder detergent and two Gain dish detergents (pre-coupon total: $8.98)
Use the $2 off Gain Powder coupon from the 9/11 SS2. Use two .50 coupons from the 8/14 RP.
After coupons, pay $5.98. Receive $3 Catalina plus $3 BONUS Catalina - that's $6 back, and it's ALL FREE!

Easy but not quite-as-good detergent deal:
Buy one Gain liquid detergent and two Gain dish detergents (pre-coupon total: $8.98)
Use the $1 off Gain coupon from the 8/14 RP. Use two .50 coupons from the 8/14 RP.
After coupons, pay $6.98. Receive $3 Catalina plus $3 BONUS Catalina - that's $6 back, and you're at .98 for everything!

The Gain laundry detergent is also part of the "Spend $30, Get $10" in Register Rewards deal running at Walgreens this week too. Can you say double-dip? Let's tackle that next...

Buy 1 Finish Dishwasher Detergent (now $22.95)
Use four $4 Air Wick coupons and one .75 Finish coupon.

Lastly, this week's CVS ad shows 2-ounce Bengay pain reliever on sale for $5.49, and the ad recommends you use the $5 coupon from this week's 9/11 SS2 to get it for .49.

I'm honestly not sure if this is usage is okay, because the ad shows regular Bengay. But, the coupon is for Bengay Cold Therapy, Bengay Pain Relief + Massage, or Bengay Ultra Strength 4-ounce. If these varieties are on sale for $5.49 too, then you're good to go (but it's 2:28am on Monday morning and I wasn't able to get to the store to check this one out today with all of our weekend plans.) It's very possible it might be an error if CVS didn't know what specifications would be on the coupon before it was printed. Walgreens has Bengay Cold Therapy on sale for $6.99, and it would be $1.99 after this coupon.

CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store -- it prints bonus coupons for you! This week, several readers have reported getting coupons for FREE cookies or crackers!

Wrapping things up with Walmart...

Gain dish detergent is .97 every day at Walmart. Use the .50 coupon from 8/14 RP and pay .47! (Through 9/30.)

Policies to know:

  • Walmart will price match any competitor's advertised price. Bring the other store's flyers with you to the store.

  • With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store's STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick's store coupon advertising ".99 Ragu Pasta Sauce" would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising "2/$1 Morton's Salt" would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for "$2.50 off Huggies" would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)

  • With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor's Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.

  • Walmart's new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says "Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase."

I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.

Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?

I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location's regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I've listed Walmart at the end of each week's Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you'll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I'm aware of great coupon matchups, you'll find those here too.

I did the "spend $30 and get $10RR" today at Wags. My precoupon total was $30, however, after all of the coupons the subtotal came under $30 and they did not give me my $10RR. The manager said it's the new policy. Is this true? Thanks for all you do:)

Working machine or late?

Could you tell if the machine was working? Or was it a 24 hr and it was later at night? (there is that few hours I think between 10pm to midnight to not do deals because catalina updates) I have done the deal several times and have had no trouble, and was always under after coupons. Just FYI, you should do the return as soon as you can at the same store/same day so they can void the transaction and return coupons. (at least that is what the manager told me yesterday when I did a gain powder deal and it was more than I thought it would be... I returned it a few days later)

i went to another walgreens

i went to another walgreens and thats what d manager told me(return d items to same store asap to get coupons back). but i guess he felt bad for me and somehow he was able to print my $10RR and another $3 RR(from gain items). Ending of my story=me very happy:) Just to satisfy my inquiry, i made a call to wags C.S. and they said no changes had been made so far. So $30. is precoupon total:) thnks for d replies guys:)

re: new policy @ wags?

I had that same problem yesterday. I came home, checked everything, tossed and turned about it, got up this morning and went to a different Walgreens and WALA, it worked. Took my original items back to first store and got my money back.

Skittles deal

I bought 4 bags of skittles at Wags without any problem and they were FREE! I had to check your site on my phone to check the deal because I was confused finding the deal LOL!!

Airwick @ CVS

Did the moneymaker airwick deal @ CVS this morning with 4 compact units, and did get the $10 ECB even though the total was a few pennies shy of $20. One nice thing about CVS to remember -- multi-item ECB deals there are cumulative because they're tied to your card. So, I had no qualms about trying the four units alone because I knew that I could always go back later if necessary and add one more item in a separate transaction to hit the threshold.

Now, the question I'm wondering... since my receipt says I still need a few more pennies to hit the reward ECB (even though it already printed this time) would it print again if a second transaction *does* put me over the $20 mark?

Not likely

No - we've seen this before occasionally for them. The offer is limit 1 per card, and you got it :) If the ad says $20 but their threshold is really $19.90 or something, you still did and completed the 1 offer that you're offered via the ad, per card.

Skittles

If Wags is out of Skittles, Walmart will price match the Wags coupon and take the Target/manuf coupon, right?

Lady/ Men Speedstick

I went to Jewel to get the deodorants but did not realize that there were certain ones that were on sale B1G1 free. It appears all the Speedstick deodorant is on sale for $2.99 but only about 2-3 scents are also BIGI so make sure you grab the right ones.

It appears just the regular scent is on sale not the fancier named ones.

Several scents

The Lady Speed Stick B1G1 were available in 5 scents at the Jewel I shopped at (Huntley, IL). And the men's had probably 4 or 5. For ladies there was Freesia, Powder, Shower, Waterlily (I believe) and a cucumber something or other. ;)

At the Jewel I went to in

At the Jewel I went to in Burbank there were only like 4-5 scents available however as BIGI and the others were listed on sale as $2.99 with the same kind of tag (yellow sales tag) so it was confusing when I was picking the scents and when they didn't ring up BIGI free the Osco person walked with me to the aisle to show me the difference.

Wags Coupon Problems

Help! I went to Walgreens today to purchase a total of 12 items. I had 10 manufacturer's coupons and was going to use 2 register rewards. Two of the manufacturer's coupons were for $.75 off of 2 items. The cashier took off the manufacturer's coupons first. When he went to enter the register rewards, the register would not take them. He called the manager over and he wouldn't do anything either - stating that he thought the the $.75 off 2 counted as 2 coupons each. My bill was still high enough that it could have taken them off. I said that has never been the policy before and he said that it must have changed recently. The same problem happened to me yesterday at a different Walgreens. I checked their coupon policy online and didn't see anything that stated that. Any suggestions or does anybody know what the problem was? Thanks!

He's right

A .75-off-2 does count as TWO different manufacturer coupon discounts to the register - it's a discount that applies to two items. If you wanted to use your two RRs, you would have needed 14 items there, as Walgreens' registers won't allow more manufacturer coupon discounts than there are items being scanned.

It has always been the policy - this isn't new. And unfortunately, it's something you learn from experience and isn't specified in their written policy. Hope this helps.

Kellogg's rebate question

I have looked for an original rebate form for the Kellogg's $10 rebate when buying 10 Kellogg's listed products and can't find it. When I click on your highlighted link, if I print that does that count as an official form or is it a mechanical reproduction that they won't accept? I even checked Kellogg's website and don't see it listed. Thank you for all you do.

Rebate

If you are looking for the gas rewards form...email me..I saved it as a PDF and I can email it to you. Email me you email address and I can send you an attachment.

On their site

The printable form is hosted on Kelloggs' own site - it's official, and it's the one I've been using too. (Remember, you can send in FIVE rebates per household - that's $50! :)

Nearly Free Cereal

So does that mean the $10+ that I just spent on Kellogg's products yesterday at Dominicks which was over 10 dollars (I got the deal where you buy 5 and save 5 dollars ), I can send in the rebate form and get that 10 dollars back? If so, that means the cereal is nearly free.

Yes

Yes, it does. Only certain varieties/flavors qualify for the rebate though, so check the form and make sure you send in only the correct qualifying UPCs.

Jill, your the best!

Really! There are some great coupon sites out there but I find your deals to be the most useful. I used to pay for a service that matched deals but didn't include catalinas. I decided the payment was eating up the savings and that I could just do it myself. WRONG! Thank goodness one of your followers told me about your site. We bumped into each other (literally) at Wags, looked at each others cart and started talking coupons. That was almost 2 years ago.

So after having tried to do the research myself, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into helping us. I can see exactly how much MONEY I save. It's a figure that I can calculate. What I can't put a price on is the amount of TIME you save me each weak. Couldn't do it without ya. Love your followers too. They are always so generous. It's nice to have a place where it feels like we're all in this together.

Was so upset the Jewel coupons weren't in my paper and so relieved there were stacks of them in the store. Really needed the tide.

Thanks Jill

Great trip to Jewel!

Successful trip to Jewel yesterday!

8 Speed Stick deodorant
5 boxes of Pizza Rolls
6 boxes Betty Crocker potatoes
9 boxes of Hamburger Helper

$6.95 out of pocket (before tax)!!!!!!!!!

We did have an issue with the Hamburger Helper. Did not realize they were ONLY the boxes marked Bonus that were included in the deal. Also, had been mailed a coupon (printed at the bottom of a letter - looked just like the Life Savers mints letter/coupon that I had received a few weeks ago) from Oscar Mayer for a free package of their Selects hot dogs. Jewel would NOT take it as they insisted it was an internet coupon (despite the authenticity printing across the backside of the coupon - something you would NOT have on a coupon printed at home).

"printable" Free coupons

Anytime I get a free coupon from the manufacturer that's printed one of those authenticity papers, I take the WHOLE thing (the coupon, uncut out of the paper, and the envelope too) to Jewel. They will usually take them if they see it did indeed come in the mail that way.

You had a super cheap trip!

walgreens 10rr

jill,
i went to my local walgreens (they too do not carry the powder Gain) and my $10 register rewards did not print. unfortunately i did not notice it right there right then. i went back in and spoke with the manager who told me it was because i used coupons. the coupons lowered my transaction total and it no longer was the $30 needed to receive the rr. i've used coupons before and have had the rr print. he refused to print the rr for me. i looked over there coupon policy and it does not state you cannot use coupons. has anyone else ever heard of this? what can i do?

10rr

I very diligently wrote down the scenerios for the transactions from this site, went to Walgreens, had to make a change or two with the total clearly in mind for the 10 rr and did not get it. She said it was because I used that products manufacturer coupon so the register wasn't going to print more from the same manufacturer. I tried to explain, then did a 2nd transaction thinking it would show her that it indeed was suppose to print however the 2nd transaction also failed to give one to me. It was kinda late this evening so I just wanted to come home and figure out what I might have done wrong. Decided 1st thing in the morning it is all going back. These items would have been useful but not necessary. Still haven't figured out what I did.

Fluke

It was likely a fluke or hiccup in the system - I was at Walgreens today and had no problems using coupons. Things occasionally happen. I would have returned the items on the spot and had him re-ring them without the coupons. If you do that and nothing prints, you know that it's a system interruption.

Jewel book

Ok, so here is a dumb question...do I need to actually clip the store coupons from the jewel coupon book, or can I just have them scan them and keep them for future use, like at Dominicks and Walgreens?

Jewel book

Not a dumb question... When I did 5 separate transactions at Jewel with the Jewel book, I did need to clip all of the coupons from the book. I didn't realize I would need to do that so had to get out of line so I wouldn't hold everybody up.

jewel $5 off 10 items

Went to jewel today and had alittle problem. Is there a limit to the save 5 off of the 10 items? I didn't get my $5 off my third trip to jewel. I read the policy but couldn't find anything. I did get my box tops though.

$5 off 10 items

FYI I was able to do 4 deals at once.

Too quick?

Did you do all 3 trips back-to-back-to-back in a matter of minutes? Sometimes the registers need a few minutes to reset between transactions. If you have a spouse/friend/family member with an extra Preferred card (they give you 3 when you sign up!) alternate cards between transactions to avoid this.

thank you

Thanks so much I will remember this next time. Two transactions were close together, that's more than likely what happened. Thanks again.

Skittles not a mars product

Explain to me how you can buy a Wrigley product(skittles) with a Walgreen's Mars coupon?

scroll down

Wrigly bought Mars in 2008.

Did anyone try to do the Gain powder deal at Wags?

My Wags only carry the 40 load size powder which is $10.99. Has anyone found the smaller load sizes that are part of the $5 sale at their Wags?

Gain $5 deal w/$3 rr

I did the $5 deal at walgreens. I found a walgreens in naperville that has the gain powder on sale for $5 even though it's not in the flyer. I did the transaction with 1 gain powder and 2 gain dish detergents. I used a $2 off gain powder and two 50 cents off gain dish detergents. The deal printed out one $3 register reward. I did two transactions. Both of them worked fine. Still a good deal even though the other bonus $3 register reward did not print.

use the liquid

My wags doesnt carry the smaller gain powder either but I got the liquid that is on sale for $5 and I was able to use my $2/1 powder q'. I asked the cashier before doing the transaction and she said we will try to see if it will work and it did.
Hope it helps.

I tried to use $2.00 off on

I tried to use $2.00 off on the liquid explaining to the cashier that they didn't have the powdered Gain available and I was told "NO" I had to cancel the purchase. I also had two $1.00 on the liquid so I had to look through my coupons to get other stuff to make it $30.00 for the RR.

Cashier was correct to say no

Cashier was correct to say no it is incorrect usage of the coupon..the $2 was for the powder and should not be used on the liquid :)

Question...

So I just looked on my Dominick's Just4U, and they are deal-matching Target's Kashi sale of B5G1. Dominick's is also running a Buy 5 Save $5 deal that includes Kashi TLC bars. So I'm assuming that if I bought 6 boxes of Kashi TLC bars at Dominick's, my deal match would price them at $2.99 and take off one free, plus I would get $5 off the other five boxes, making them $1.99 ea. Add in 3 Recyclebank coupons for $2 off (they let you print 3 a month now) and 1 $1.50/2 from coupons.com, and I'd be getting the five boxes for $2.45, or $.49 ea. Will that work? Cus if it will I'm going to Dominick's right now! :P

Kashi Deal at Target

Thanks, Jill, for all your hard work!

So I spent some time this morning getting all those Kashi coupons together for the deal at Target & saw that the coupon for $1 off an Kashi Frozen Entree / Frozen Pizza on the Target Website is actually a Manufacturer Coupon. So it doesn't seem like we can stack it with another Manufacturer Coupon. Bummer... But the other products are still a great deal.

KASHI Frozen Coupons on Target's website

The Kashi frozen coupons on target.com are actually manufacturer coupons.

$2. any Kashi Product

If you join www.recyclebank.com for very little time you can earn points to "purchase" a Kashi $2. off any product. I think you can only do 2 of them per month but good deal!

GM Coupon booklet at Meijer

Yesterday I wnt to Meijer (Elgin) and by the dairy aile I found a GM coupon booklet "Get deal-icious saving$". It has coupons to make the jewel B10G5 even better. For example: Save $1 on 2 Betty Crocker boxed potatoes and save $1 on 3 Old paso products.
It also has $1 off 3 progresso, $1 off 1 box 90 calories brownies, $1 off 3 hamburger helper... up to $20 in savings.

Hope it hepls.

Perdue Ground Chicken at Jewel

I thought this was a decent deal since I still had coupons for $1. off meat from the velveta boxed meal thing... Perdue 1lb. natural ground chicken is $3.99 B1G1. Used 2 coupons for $1.99 for 2lbs. Does anyone know if there are any other perdue coupons out there?

Couldn't find any

I looked this weekend and could not find any - but it's still $2/lb. without coupons, which isn't bad.

NOW I SEE IT :-)

In your post under meat. I probably saw it this morning before I went and didn't realize and it stuck in my head. It is a good price for me I will probably get 2 more. I wanted to get in the store early and grab my speed stick before they were all gone :-)

PS. Have you ever seen the apple and maple flavor of the Open Nature at Dom's? I can't seem to find that flavor anywhere.

Skittles at Wags

How can the Skittles work on the Mars/Dove candy coupon at Wags when the coupon says to get reimbursed for Skittles you send it to Wrigley?

I don't want to get to the cashier and get shut down.

Thanks for all you do!!!

mars owns wrigley

Mars bought wrigley in 2008 -- Wrigley is a Mars brand.

Correct

Skittles are a Mars product now, as Mars owns Wrigley:

Wrigley A Subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated

Speed Stick Deal

Hi Jill, I can't seem to find the Speed Stick/Lady deal you reference at Jewel. Can you tell me where it is located? Also, I had a question that I can't wrap my head around so I am hoping you can help me understand it.

CVS has a "B1G1 half off" on Speed Stick and with the "B1G1 free" coupon, what would I pay for two and how many should I buy to get the best deal when I have 3 coupons? 6 or 8?

Thank you for your help.

Speed stick

Jill can best explain how it works; however I just did the deal at Jewel and it worked like a charm. I used 3 coupons and got 6 deodorants free. The Jewel deal is B1G1 free. I also stopped at Walgreens and did the Gain deal with 1 liquid wash detergent and 2 dishsoaps; got two $3 RR!! (at about 9a)

Also, for those of you who like Starbucks, there is an in-store deal at Target... pay $8.69 for 12 oz. bag of coffee. When you buy 2, you get a $5 gift card. Use the $1.50 coupon from this week's yellow SS so 2 bags @8.69 = $17.38 minus $3 for two coupons = 14.38, then $5 gift card = 9.38 and $4.69/bag. This is the cheapest I've ever paid for Starbucks.

Thanks Jill! I had so much fun doing deals this weekend!

PS Sitting here having tea and the Essential Everyday toaster pastries from Jewel that Jill mentions above and they're really good!

PSS Have to give a shout-out to the checker at Cary Jewel! I had 5 separate orders and she was wonderful. I got a little nervous when there were people in line behind me but she said, don't worry. No matter how many coupons, you are always welcome here!! What a way to start the day!
